Post UFE Complications

Hello, fellow fibroid sisters,

I had a ufe in October of 2003, and the fibroid was sucessfully

embolized. It went from 12-13 cm. to 8 x 4 cm. My symptoms

(inability to pee) went away immediately!!

Now I have been bleeding for 45 days (more than 6 weeks!) I had an

MRI on Friday, and I found out the results (via a radiologist friend

of mine, but not my IR or gyn) over the weekend. The report said

that my fibroid was successfully embolized, ovaries fine - but the

degenerating, nonvascular, submucosal fibroid has dug itself into my

endometrium and uterine cavity. That is what most likely is causing

the bleeding - like a regular period, non stop, minimal clotting,

bright red, some mild cramping.

Progesterone or megace hasn't worked - obviously because its not a

hormonal thing. I thought it was a " bleed, " as it didn't seem like

a period to me - more like a simple " bleed. "

I plan to call my gyn or IR tomorrow, but I am wondering if you have

heard of this happening before, and what works to correct it? D and

C? Endometrial ablation? Heavens forbid, hysterectomy? I want to

be a little informed tomorrow, if any of you can please respond!!!!!
