Guest guest
I know this is ridiculous but I was diagnosed over a year ago with a 12cm fibroid and a cyst on both ovaries...I am 49 & the doctor just said " hysterectom- make an appointment. " I was terrified because I am totally scared to death to be put to sleep. My mother had heart surgery years ago and almost died from the operation-had a stroke during surgery. So getting to the doctor is a huge thing for me. In fact I did not go back....is it possible that the cyst and fibroid could have gone away on its on. I was never in continual pain and now my periods have about stopped but I still hurt at times and feel the pressure. Thanks for your help. Guest guest
My feeling is- " if it ain't broke, don't fix it " . Did your doctor say why he thought you " needed " a hysterctomy? Were the cysts and fibroid causing problems? Even if they do cause problems, you don't necessarily need a hysterectomy- there are alternatives. You mentioned that your periods have stopped. Are you menopausal? Have you had a recent scan to see if there have been any changes since you were diagnosed a year ago? That would be my first move- (maybe with a different doctor, though!) See where things stand right now. -Mindy > I know this is ridiculous but I was diagnosed over a year ago with a 12cm > fibroid and a cyst on both ovaries...I am 49 & the doctor just said " hysterectom- > make an appointment.
