Guest guest
Tam, I too thought flax was so good for me but did recently hear that it contributes to the estrogen which we have an overabundance of which contributes to fibroid growth!! Dissapointing! I too am confused about the soy and flax stuff. I was heavily into both but am now very confused. Jen > Hi, > > I had a myomectomy last June (two fibroids removed). Guest guest
Thanks for the reply, Jen. You're right. The more I read about it, the more confusing it is. Some web sites and books state the flax is deters fibroid growth... other sites and books state that flax contains lignans w/ phytoestrogen. I don't know what to do! Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Thanks for the response. I've read conflicting info. about both soy and flax. Some books and web sites state they they deter fibroid growth... Others say that since they contain lignans (hence, phytoestrogen), they might cause fibroid growth. I've given up soy, but I might choose to stay with flax... I don't know what to do! Thanks, Tam > in healing fibroids & in Natural treatment of fibroid ..... > flax seeds are mentioned > it indicates in one that see and nuts are high in calories and should be > eaten in small amounts > but, I saw nothing else bad about them > I am so confused > estrogen was never mentioned > take care, Debbie
Guest guest
There is no proven way to heal fibroids. Of course there are tons of sites that have their " miracle cure " and are willing to sell you something. The doc I saw who was a fibroid specialist,in response to my question of supplements, said to stay away from any hormone influencing product. I am glad you raised this question. I hadn't seen anything on flaxseed and as it is helpful to reduce plaque (Omega 3) in the arteries, I thought it might be a good thing to take. I am not taking it since it is a photo estrogen. I have found red rasberry tea, in moderation, to be helpful to reduce pain discomfort that I experience before and during my period. Here is a good resource for fibroid maintenence that I found on a university health site, http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/ucdhs/health/a- z/73UterineFibroids/doc73lifestyle.html best, suz > in healing fibroids & in Natural treatment of fibroid ..... > flax seeds are mentioned > it indicates in one that see and nuts are high in calories and should be > eaten in small amounts > but, I saw nothing else bad about them > I am so confused > estrogen was never mentioned > take care, Debbie
Guest guest
Thanks for this information. Perhaps it's best to take pure Fish Oil capsules for Omega 3 benefits. > > in healing fibroids & in Natural treatment of fibroid ..... > > flax seeds are mentioned > > it indicates in one that see and nuts are high in calories and > should be > > eaten in small amounts > > but, I saw nothing else bad about them > > I am so confused > > estrogen was never mentioned > > take care, Debbie
