Guest guest
Hi I recommend these two books for your reading list on the advantages of plant-based hormone therapy (especially the latter -- Christiane's book is a great $19US investment in your overall health, period!) :: 'Natural Progesterone' by Lee MD 'Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom' by Christiane Northrop, MD Here is a quote from Christiane's book that might be helpful??:: " Natural progesterone is different from the synthetic progestins such as medroxyprogesterone acetate (Provera). Unlike Provera, which is known to cause bloating, headaches, depression, and weight gain, and may also increase the risk of fatal coronary artery spasm, natural progesterone has no serious side effects at the usual doses and has no adverse effects on blood lipids when compared to Provera. For purposes of replacement, however, natural progesterone is far superior in regard to both symptom relief and lack of side effects. " I am taking natural progesterone as given to me by my Naturopath. It is applied (rotationally) to the thin fatty layers of tissue, such as to the breasts, on the abdomen, inner thighs or breast area. I use 1/4 tsp a day for the 1st 14 days of my cycle (from day 1 of my cycle) and then 1/3 tsp 2 times a day for the second half. I have read in certain places that one should stop using it for 5 days out of the cycle, but she never prescribed me to do that. Any thoughts from the LOL using natural progesterone?? I haven't suffered any side effects whatsoever and I believe that it is helping me with my symptoms (heavy bleeding, etc) sKY:: > Hi, > > I am wondering if anyone has any information about using progesterone cream. > I read that this may help in preventing or even shrinking fibroids. Guest guest
I used natural progesterone cream recommended by Dr. Lee. I was hoping it would help to shrink my growing fibroid as suggested by his book. Unfortunately, my fibroid continued to grow although my perimenapausal symtoms seemed a lot better though very minimum was I suffering. my periods got heavier and heavier, finally to gushing and hemmoraging! I stopped the cream. Can't say whether it was a cause or not. I had a UFE on 1/30 and my heavy bleeding, hemmoraging and gushing are history. I was hopeful that his book would help me. Everything seemed to make so much sense and that book (What your doctor may not tell you about perimenapause " ) was like a bible to me for a long time. I tried health and diet things he suggested. Didn't stop my fibroid from growing. Jen
