Guest guest
HA! HA! Carla, I LOVE IT!! This uterus reminds me of that memorable quote from Woody : " I have an intense desire to return to the womb....Anybody's. " And now Woody (and ALL of us) really can !! Actually, in the city of Philadelphia, there is a precedent of sorts for this type of anatomical art. At the lin Institute, there's a huge " walk-through human heart " , complete with audio (a loud, pulsating heart beat) as you travel through the various cardiac chambers. Carla, you wondered whether this particular uterine art would be fibroid-free with ovary in tact. Hmmmmmmmmmm......I'd say that would really depend on the artist, his style, and the period of art history he/she was most inspired/influenced by. Let's see....if he were a Realist, yes, of course, you could DEFINITELY expect to see a bunch of fibroids, a polyp or two, and a follicular cyst on the ovary. Hey, that's Realism for you--Life (and a uterus) as it REALLY IS-- for most women. An artist stuck in the Medieval period?????........what would HIS vision of the uterus be??????? The very same as those Medieval GYNOS we've all known---The uterus would be removed along with the cervix, and ovaries. Alas-- it would be a stark and bare exhibit with a mere strand of surgical adhesion as a remnant.... of what once was. An artist influenced by the period in Art History known as the Enlightenment would " defibroid " his creation, and then resect the uterus, with just a faint surgical incision to show for it. A true Futurist artist, might portray the " UTERUS OF THE FUTURE " (i.e., treated by a noninvasive method like, MRI-guided focused ultrasound.) Hey, now that I think of it--the ARTISTIC possibilities are just endless--NUFF could really have its own " MOMA " (no, NOT Museum of Modern Art.....I mean MUSEUM OF **MYOMA*** ART!!!) with Carla as Curator. -Roma In a message dated 6/16/2004 1:02:26 PM Eastern Daylight Time, cdionne@... writes: That would be a healthy ovary and fibroid-free uterus, I presume? " Among several larger-than-life exhibits in the Art Unlimited hall is Wombhouse, a model uterus big enough to sleep in, and furnished for the purpose with sound system and wine bar in the left ovary.
