Guest guest
: Here's my layperson attempt at interpreting this information. First, Hooray!!! No masses or cysts on your ovaries and fallopian tubes (i.e., your " adnexa " ) The " small amount " of fluid in the endocervical canal (part of the cervix) is nothing worrisome--probably normal mucous--which is, essentially water. FYI-There are mucous-producing glands in the endocervical region. Heterogenous means " dissimilar " and refers to the texture of your uterus on ultrasound not being consistent in appearance throughout. We Fibroidians typically have a heterogeneous appearance to our uteri due to fibroids, but I don't think it's the ONLY reason. ly, I'm confused about the wording on your report, whether it references an area (the lowest part of your uterus) where your fibroids " WERE " or where they " ARE " . It's not the medical lingo I'm hung up on, it's the PHRASING that has me perplexed. You either have???--or you " HAD " --- ????... a separate, distinct (i.e., " discrete " ) myometrial mass (i.e., intramural in location--in the middle, the wall of the uterus ) in the very lowest part of your uterus (the lower third--i.e., the lower uterine segment ) that has the " appearance " of fibroids. Does the report provide any measurements? Cms. Mms? Is there any more information on the report? Needless to say, don't simply rely on the amateur review of Roma, Medical Dilettante for understanding your ultrasound. You should direct any questions you have about this report to your doctor. You are entitled to know the meaning of and understand every word on that report, even if it is entirely " normal. " Press your doctor for a more thorough review of these findings. Don't let your gyno brush you off. It's your RIGHT to know!!! Let us know what you find out. -Roma In a message dated 5/20/2004 6:33:24 PM Eastern Daylight Time, lstegallathome@... writes: Here is what the report said: There is evidence of prior myomectomies since the study of 6/5/03 (that was the last ultrasound when I had 6 large fibroids) The myometrial echo texture remains heterojeneous (what??) for the more discrete myometrial mass within the lower uterine segment compatible with uterin leiomyomas. No adnexal (???) masses are identified There is a small amount of fluid within the endocervical canal.
