Hi everyone, trying to compress my messages into one so as to be

a " responsible " list user...

Carla, thanks so much for your thoughts on the Kent

book/approach to prolapse issues (#46260). Your reference to her

suggestion to urinate on hands and knees once a day made me laugh out

loud. In addition to how my own prolapse situation might develop in

the future, I am concerned right now also with my mom, who is

having " sling " surgery for bladder prolapse later this month. And one

of her sisters just had the same surgery. I was provoked by various

internet info, including Kent's, into considering

suggesting that my mom postpone and do more research. At this point,

however, I have decided to support her decision, and have talked over

with her a substantial list of questions to put to her doc (who is

the acknowledged top surgeon for this procedure in her area). My mom

is a very healthy and active 72-year old, certainly not intimidated

by the prospect of initiating this conversation with her doctor.

However, I cannot imagine counseling her to urinate once a day on

hands and knees!!

Any other input, from any list-mates, on this topic would be more

than welcome even if it is slightly (just slightly!) off-topic.

, so good to hear of your positive myo outcome!! I was thinking

of you last week. Welcome to the land of the fibroid-free, and

congrats on the teething ring solution to the thirst problem, glad

that worked out.

You asked how long people had pain with coughing and sneezing. You

are just past the one-week mark, right? Sounds like you are doing

great. I think for me this started calming down considerably in the 1-

2 week period. I don't think I sneezed until around 3 weeks, and it

was fine and pain-free (tho my blood pressure probably spiked when I

realized it was going to be a sneeze-for-real -- I anticipated

torture).

I recall being very impatient with my recovery between about 10 days

and 3 weeks -- I would feel good when I got up in the morning but by

the end of the day was still really tired and somewhat uncomfortable.

I didn't like feeling " not myself. " However, after week 3 I started

feeling much closer to normal.

At week 2 I had a few days of pain from ovulation -- which I almost

always have, and pre-surgery thought was caused/exacerbated by

pressure on the ovaries from the huge fibroid -- but I didn't

recognize it post-surgery and thought I was having continuing surgery-

related pain. Couldn't figure out why it was just on one side. Then

when I had it on the other side one month later, I figured it out.

You will do great. Take it easy, rest a lot, do the walking/gentle

activity you have energy for, and before you know it you will have

your old self back.

Sunny
