Welcome to the group. I sure hope the ladies here can direct you toward some

answers. You said your doctor found a large fibroid blocking your tubes?

This certainly could be the reason you are not getting pg. Fibroids can act

like an IUD if they are large enough. They can block the tubes, put

pressure on the endometrial wall, and cause chronic bleeding all of which

can make it difficult for an embryo to survive.

My advice to you is...

you've got to find out what type of fibroid you have. Is it a submucosal or

an intramural fibroid?

Submucosal= growing within the endometrial cavity from its lining's tissues

Intramural= growing within the myometrium (uterine muscle wall)

Knowing this will help you decide on what types of treatments will be best

for you.

If it's submucosal you may choose to have it surgically removed via

hysteroscopic resection (vaginal myomectomy.) This is a minor surgery that

is vaginal. It has very minimal pain and discomfort, and it only takes a

few days to recover.

If you have an intramural fibroid this can be trickier for your doctor to

remove with surgery. Most women will have to have an abdominal myomectomy

for this type of fibroid. It is a major surgery with weeks of recovery

time. But it is definitely worth while if you are wanting a baby. It does

require some cutting into the muscle of the uterus. Depending on the size

and depth of the surgery's location, this may require you to have a

C-section with your baby.

I have had both of these surgeries. I am now TTC and have been told I will

need a C-section. Not a problem for me, I'm just so thankful I am able to

TTC!

If your fib is within the endometrial cavity, it is most likely a submucosal

fib. This is good news. Ask your doctor if he/she can remove it via

resection surgery. If not, is it possible, and could you get a

recommendation for a doctor that can? It may be a day surgery, but it takes

a highly skilled physician to perform it.

I had over 20 submucosal fibs in my endo cavity. I had them removed via

resection surgery and now am hopeful for a pg. My doctor has told us that

there is no reason why I cannot get pg now, so we are working on cycle #1!

I am currently at CD-17, right in the middle of it! I hope to have very

good news in another few weeks.

In my opinion, seeing a fertility specialist would be your best bet. But if

you were taking Clomid, then you probably already are seeing one.

I have been given that choice to try Clomid too. I know nothing about it.

What is the name of the Clomid forum you joined? I'm hoping I may not need

it, but want to keep the options open.
