Guest guest
Hi, I want to share my experience with this wonderful Doctor, especially for anyone that lives in the Los Angeles area. Somebody here in the group recommended him, however, I don't remember their name. But thank you so much. I am 54 years old in menopause, have a grapefruit size fibroid and was taking hormones. In February I missed some pills and because of this had some heavy bleeding. I went to my Doctor, who since he detected the fibroid 3 years ago had recommended a hysterectomy, once again he said it was the fibroid did a pap smear and ordered an ultra sound. Pap smear came back normal. When he got the results of the ultra sound, he called me and once again recommended a hysterectomy with the removal of the ovaries. I asked if i had an option, he said because of my age that was the best for me and after the procedure I could resume taking hormones. I went for a second opinion, the Dr. I went to was pregnant and would be delivering her baby in a week. She said I did not have to rush into a hysterectomy, she could do a D&C and when she came back from her leave we could start on a program for the fibroid. I did not feel comfortable with that so I went for another opinion. My third opinion was Dr. . He said I do not need a hysterectomy, the bleeding was caused by not taking the hormones consistently over a few weeks and it might have been heavier because of the fibroid. He also said fibroids do shrink with menopause and my fibroid is at the top of my uterus so it will not cause any problems because of its location. He recommended I try staying off the hormones and believes fibroid should start shrinking in about 3 months. He said I have to do nothing but continue to have my yearly pap smear and mamogram . Dr. is a very patient and caring Doctor, I am so glad I found him. Once again thank you so much to this board, I just wish there was more for women in menopause. Yolanda M. Guest guest
I agree with Dr. here. It is very possible the hormones could be contributing to your fibroid problems. Estrogen feeds the hormones so it's best to not take them at all if you can help it. Or the very lowest dose possible. > Hi, > I want to share my experience with this wonderful Doctor, especially > for anyone that lives in the Los Angeles area.
