WHI - Estrogen Only Branch Bites the Dust . . .

Well – it’s happened, they’ve shut down the estrogen only branch of the WHI

study. These were all hysterectomized women on estrogen without

progesterone in any form.

If you ask me, it’s another reason to avoid hysterectomy. What are you

going to do afterwards????

“WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The National Institutes of Health said on Tuesday it

had stopped a large trial of women taking estrogen replacement therapy after

finding the pills not only failed to improve their health, but may have

slightly raised the risk of stroke.

“It is the second large trial of hormone replacement therapy to have been

stopped abruptly in two years. In July 2002, women taking estrogen plus

progestin were told to stop because of the risk of heart attack, stroke and

some forms of cancer. “
