Horrible menstrual bleeding even after hysteroscopic myomectomy/edometrial ablat

I had a hysteroscopic myomectomy plus an endometrial ablation at the

same time for two small interior fibroids. I had the procedures done

early March at UCSF. The doctor told me 30% of women would have no

future periods, 30% light bleeding, 30% regular bleeding 10% no

change. She said the first post-op period is irrelevant but I should

see improvement witht the second one. Well I am havng the second one

and completely soaking through a superplus tampon every hour or so

just like before the surgery. I cannot believe my luck is this bad

that I am seeing zero improvement after all the hassle and expense of

surgery.

Here are my questions. One - has anyone else had either or both of

these procedures and seen improvement over time or after the second

period instead of immediately after the first post-op period? Two -

does anyone have any suggestions for how to manage international

travel while hemoragging? I have to decide whether to go ahead and

pay for tickets for a trip we have planned which I would not have

planned without the surgery. There is no way I want to end up stuck

on an airplane or other questionnable environments bleeding so

profusely.

I would apreciate any feedback or suggestions. Thank you. Carol

I am really sorry that you are still suffering. I have had both

procedures (first a resection, then ablation the following year).

Since the ablation I have had very, very light periods, so I can't

help you on that front. An idea I have for travel is the possiblity

of using birth control pills to time when you have your period. I

did that a couple of times with success prior to my resection. In

fact I was using the pills at the time I had the resection and had a

trip to Australia planned for about a month and a half after the

surgery. I continued with the pills for the trip. I certainly

didn't want any surprises during a 15 hour plane trip. I also wonder

if it would be helpful to have a follow up hysteroscopy to take a

look and see if there is still anything in your uterus causing you

to have continued heavy bleeding.
