Hello you two,

Yes, if you are experiencing heavy bleeding, clots, light-headedness,

weakness, and prolonged periods, it is most likely caused from your fibroid.

If you have a submucosal fibroid (inside the endometrial cavity) it is very

likely it will cause this bleeding problem. Women with intramural and

subserosal fibs may not experience any symptoms because they don't usually

affect bleeding unless they are submucosal. But there are exceptions.

I am 30, had terrible dibilitating bleeding for years, finally saw the right

doctor who suggested a hysteroscopic resection. This was a day surgery that

was painless, quick, and easy to recover from compared to an abdominal

myomectomy. my surgeon removed my many submucosal fibs via resection

surgery and now I have no more heavy bleeding. It was a miracle. I was

told so many times by my regular gyns that I'd need a hysterectomy. But I

did not agree, and finally found the right doctor with the right tools. He

performed the resections, I had to have three because I had so many fibs,

but he has changed my life completely!

So ask your doctors about this surgery. I'm not as familiar with a D & C,

but have your doctor compare it to a hysteroscopic resection. The resection

takes a skilled doctor to perform it, so be sure your doctor is skilled or

can refer you to someone who is.

You just don't have to live with that terrrible bleeding any longer. And

know that I had several fibroids that were 15cm in size and my doctor was

still able to remove them via resection, it just took several surgeries

instead of only one.

Good luck to you both, and please feel free to e-mail me off-list if you

want more details. Just title your e-mail resection surgery so I know who

you are.

:)Sonja
