Guest guest
Don't worry Fran You've only just had a major operation and the body needs time to heal. The bloating after surgery will take weeks or months rather than days to go down. It doesn't mean that new fibroids have appeared and it is normal. The numb sensations will also take a long time to go away and you may feel odd sensations as the nerves re-grow. Don't try to move heavy weights as your abdomen doesn't have it's normal strength inside, even if it's healing nicely on the outside. If you have pain and it becomes worse or the scar area becomes more inflamed, and/or with a discharge, see a doctor. Aztek
Guest guest
Fran, slow down! It's way, way too soon to be able to start looking for a full reduction in your stomach size. Wait at least 3 months. Right now, the tissues haven't even healed from the surgery and are still swollen. So don't go getting upset yet...concentrate on taking good care of your surgical site and once your doctor gives you the ok, start some gentle exercising to help the muscles get their tone back. Regarding what's called regrowth of fibroids: actually this is a misnomer, as the fibroids that have been removed cannot grow back -- they're gone for good. I forget what the percentage is of women who do develop new fibroids following a myomectomy but I'm sure someone here will know. However, of those women who do develop new fibroids, only 15% to 20% of that group have symptommatic fibroids which may need treatment. So the odds are in your favor that you will not be bothered by fibroids in the future. Hope this helps you. Leonie > Hi all > I am 12 days post myo, and my stomach is till very swollen.
