I think that I have one sticking out of the uterus that can be " clipped " off. I need to check with a new GYN as my current GYN only suggested a hysterectomy Thanks Patty

Guest guest
I had a laparoscopic myo 4 days ago, Wednesday. I also had a hysteroscopic myo at the same time. There is always the risk that while a laparoscopic myo is planned, upon viewing and trying to remove without a larger incision, your doctor may resort to a laparotomy. I understood that risk but wanted to try to avoid the lap. My doctor was confident that he could do that. I went to him for a second opinion after my regular ob/gyn recommended a laparotomy. I THANK FOR EDUCATING ME AND PROMPTING ME TO SEEK A SECOND OPINION WITH INFORMATION IN HAND. From the laparoscopic myo: I have three small bikini line incisions, about width of a fingernail each and an incision in the bellybutton. I had pain throughout the day on Friday and took 1-2 tylenols with codeine every 4-5 hours. Generally felt like I had partied much too hard the night before. On Saturday I only took one pill the entire day. I also went out and walked a few blocks and sat down to enjoy an outdoor concert. Getting up was quite a show! My bellybutton feels a bit uncomfortable now but not painful. I feel a little tugging at the incision site sometimes but otherwise, I feel fine. Please feel free to email me with further questions. Guest guest
I had a Laparoscopic Assisted myomectomy which is what is done if your fibroids are too large to be removed by a Lararoscopic procedure only. The biggest diff between the two is the size of the largest incision incision, you will most likely have 4 (1 in your belly button, 2 small puncture wounds on each side (near your pelvic bone) and the largest incision near your pelvic bone, down low). With a Laparascopic Myo the largest incision is very small while with the Laparoscopic Assisted procedure, the biggest incision can be up to 3 inches long, which is what I have. The first week was the worst as far as recovery goes but after that I was fine. > > Myomectomy - is the surgical removal of the fibroids. Guest guest
Hi, How big were your fibroids? And where did you have your surgery done?

Guest guest
I had 5 fibroids on my last, pre-surgery Ultrasound (actually they told me I likely had more than that)which ranged from 10cm to 5cm and I had at least 1 of each type of fibroid as far as location. I had actually taken 7 shots of Lupon prior to my surgery and I had some reduction in size for the small ones but very little change in the two largest. I had my surgery done in Atlanta by Dr. Nezhat. My local doctor kept telling me that she would " try " to do the surgery and she was very negative about the outcome. It was that little word " try " that kept bothering me, so I went for additional optinions. Dr. Nezhat never used the word " try " , he told me he could perform the surgery and explained the procedure that he planned to do and also told me that he does this type of surgery on a daily basis. One warning that I did receive about laparascopic myo is that sometimes the surgery can take a long time to complete, my surgery lasted nearly 6 hours. Also, it is sometimes difficult to repair the Uterus well enough to sustain a pregnancy via the Laparascopic procedure, if that is your goal unless your doctor is very skilled. Well, the Drs Nezhat pioneered the procedure that I had, so I felt that I was in very good hands. Gwen > Hi, > How big were your fibroids? And where did you have your surgery done?
