Guest guest
Hi Elena, I think most docs will say about 2 weeks ( I remember when I had my 1st myo my doc told me 2wks) it doesn't seem too much of a stressful activity, however, when you have a fresh incision on your abdomen it is. I remember that coughing, sneezing, laughing was somewhat painful, I think that it has to do with using your abdominal muscles more than the meds that you are taking. When you step on the brake you also use your abdominal muscle, what if you need to stop short??? OUCH!!!! -----Original Message----- Hi, Ladies- How long after a myo would it be ok to make a 6-hour drive alone? What about driving as a passenger? Is the " prohibition " against driving predominantly because of pain meds??? It doesn't seem to me to be that stressful an activity. Your input appreciated! Guest guest
My doc didn't give me the " no driving " warning. I asked my GP and he said do what you feel up to and don't break hard.I was physically not up to a six hour drive for at least the two weeks after surgery. Ask your doc first but we aren't supposed to sit stationary for so long so blood clots might be something you should think about. Not even sure if thats a real threat but it's the one I worried about. As a passenger as long as you can raise your legs and snooze all the while well that sounds like fun. Just know that your healing well before you take a big trip. JanG > Hi, Ladies- > > How long after a myo would it be ok to make a 6-hour drive alone?
