Guest guest
--WE STILL NEED ONE MORE PERSON TO VOTE ON A LOCATION FOR THE SAN FRANCISCO MEETING. Vote “no preference” if you like, BUT VOTE. Only a couple of days left to vote !! We need FIVE to get a meeting scheduled. Here’s that link once again: http://uterinefibroids.meetup.com/ Those of you ANYWHERE near San Francisco, please feel free to join us in S.F. – click on “other cities” link to the left of the page and transfer yourself over for this month. .. . . and, if you’re not already signed up for MeetUps – you can go to that same link & get signed up. * * * * * * Roma – purple pillow: FIRST, I love the purple pillow idea. I do NOT do needlepoint – possibly that makes me love the idea even more – NO work for ME!!! - OR you could embroider a standard purple pillow case -- how about a tie-dyed purple pillow case? (I don't embroider either). I think purple pillows would go well with the homemade medical gowns I once proposed for going to those gynos who want you to wear idiotic paper outfits in their offices. (How about you show up wearing purple socks – no need to take SOCKS off, put on a coordinated purple gown & purple sheet and have your purple pillow to rest your head on – and possibly to toss if need be --- that ought to throw them off-balance more than a little) -- Also you could take the purple pillow to the hospital to you in the event of treatment requiring a hospital stay. AND, it could be useful for those car rides home the ladies often mention. Next, how’s my knitting going? -- well, I HAVE been experimenting with various purple yarns. Carla has the original set of my handmade Purple Socks. I feel that rather than having a “standard” Purple Socks of Courage – whatever shade or blend of purple and whatever pattern make a LOL feel good should be IT for her. So, any purple – or partly purple – socks that give you that warm fuzzy feeling are YOUR purple socks of courage. Wear ‘em to the doc – wear ‘em when you feel down – wear ‘em to the hospital and IN the hospital – wear ‘em in surgery IF you can get away with it. If you're attached to the pink socks thing -- you can have purple AND pink socks. If they won't let you wear your socks into surgery, you can have pedicure beforehand and get your toenails painted purple. Good excuse for pedicure anyway!! Right now I have a pair in progress made with Shepherd Sock yarn – Amethyst stripe & it’s my favorite so far (though I didn’t expect it to be until I started knitting it). Here’s a picture of the yarn – top right hand photo - http://www.heartstringsfiberarts.com/llsf.shtm --- or see: http://www.jimmybeanswool.com/secure-html/onlinegen/currgen/LornasLaces/Shepherd\ Sock.asp - For Pink & Purple socks my favorite so far was Shepherd Sock Iris Garden – though it has a bit of a peculiar orange in it. Search around the web if you want to buy – it can be had a bit cheaper – but these links have good photos. I still refuse to knit a uterus -- though I continue to be amused when I think of the PHOTO you found of a hand-knit uterus. Ladies who like could knit purple uteri!!
