re Fibroids or Fat?

Hi Elana -

Like others, I too visited friends and relatives who thought I was pregnant.

Very embarrassing when it was my husband's Grandpa at a family reunion, bless

his soul, and I told him that no, I was just fat. Then within 5 or 10 minutes,

Jeff's cousin congratulated us. After my response, I think she was as

embarrassed as I was, and she didn't come near me for the rest of the day. That

was over 5 yrs ago.

I had my husband take a side-view picture of me before we flew to NY last week,

after which we gave the camera to Dr West's nurse to record my myo surgery. I

definitely looked pregnant, no less than my best friend did right before

delivering her baby.

My tummy was just as swollen for several days following my myo as before, minus

the hard soccer ball which was especially noticable when lying on my back, but

now I can see the swelling going down every day. I went from wearing size 6 to

size 14 jeans & skirts--as well as larger blouses, too in order for them to fit

over my growing belly--and they were tight at times (plus black was the only

color I'd wear to work anymore, & sometimes I even left the skirt half unzipped

under my suit jacket ...and the drycleaner actually told my husband to get me

somewhere to be taken care of because I was ruining my silk suit skirts!, but I

digress & I'm embarrassed now to think of all that I did during these past years

just trying to get by!). I was still swolen enough this past Monday morning

when I wanted to wear my jeans home on the plane that I could hardly get them

closed up, and they certainly weren't comfortable, so I had to wear stretch

pants home.

And, I weighed myself right after I left the hospital, and I know the fibroids

must've weighed approx 13 pounds, since I was only in there overnight and came

out eating normally afterwards. Great way to lose weight...

You will without doubt be fine come your turn in Sept. Best wishes, Marie
