hysteroscopy / sonograms / resections ??

I have some questions about hysterscopic evaluations vs

sonogroms/transvaginal ultrasound. Do the hysteroscopes give a

better picture of the fibroids size and position?

My doc is a Gynecologic Oncologist. I like him and he seems skilled

(he did an endometrial biopsy in about 20 seconds). He sends me

to a nearby large medical center to have the sonograms done. The

radiologist there " reads " the images, and provides a written summary

to my doc. This is how my fibroids were diagnosed in 2001, and

reevaluated in 2003.

It seems like now that my bleeding has advanced to the point where I

am considering treatment (resection), maybe I should see someone who

deals only with fibroids and evaluates them via hysteroscope? Any

recs for skilled hysteroscopic resectionists in SF Bay area (anywhere

from SF to SJ is OK)?

The latest sonogram I had in 6/2003 says:

2 largest fibs are submucosal - 3.7 x 3.4 x 3.7 cm and 3.0 x 2.4 x

2.8 cm., and the uterine cavity contains 2 intracavitary myomas (one

new since 7/2001).

As I understand it, my fibs are relatively small and in the right

location for hysteroscopic resection, yes??? Resection is done on

both intracavitary and submucosal fibs, right?

I have an appt with my doc at the end of this month, and I will find

out if he has experience with hysteroscopic resections or

laparoscopic myo, which would be my prefered procedures at this

time.

Any other questions I should be thinking about?

Thanks all so much. Finding this group has already given me some

stress relief!

Jean
