Guest guest
Endometrial Biopsy: I’ve had this done many times. It’s really not a big deal. It’s not something I schedule in advance – it just happens at my regularly scheduled gyno appts. As long as I continue spotting regularly, I will INSIST on having EB annually. There is sometimes a very brief cramping – which can be pretty intense – but we’re talking about a few seconds. There has only been one time when it really bothered me – and even that was brief & bearable. I use acupressure points – in the back of the neck and on the breastbone during EB & that works well for me. Those are good accupressure points I can reach while on an examining table. -- No pain, really! That's not everyone's experience -- but it's definitely mine. Some women take ibuprofen prior to EB to lessen the cramping. Knowledge is power. If you google “endometrial biopsy” you’ll find many sites that talk about it. Here are a couple for openers. http://www.aafp.org/afp/20010315/1131.html http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003917.htm Like mammography – it's not the most pleasant experience you’ll ever have – but well worth the few moments of discomfort in exchange for the reassurance that negative results can give you. And, of course, as much as none of us wants to receive positive results -- getting them sooner is a whole lot better than later. I think if there’s any question at all that this should be checked out – and that women should INSIST on it & not be frightened of it. Maybe you can feel pleased that your doctor is being thorough enough to check this out. I hope this helps !! Guest guest
I had an endometrial biopsy four years ago. It was done in-office and didn't take long at all. As mentioned by a previous poster, there was some intense cramping (for me, it lasted no more than 30 seconds), and then it was over. A little spotting afterwards, but nothing significant. (BTW, one of the nurses in the office held my hand during the procedure, just 'cos I asked her to :->).
