It's just an estimate, based on the average uterus size at a particular

point in pregnancy. However, there can be a lot of variation in uterus size

during pregnancy, so I think the " pregnant uterus " analogy doesn't work

well. I barely looked pregnant until about the seventh month of my

pregnancy, even though I had a large fibroid.

In the Files section of this Web site, Carla posted a document with info

about various size references (pregnancy, fruit, sports, etc.). The

NUFF_charts.pdf file is at:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/uterinefibroids/files/

Personally, I'd rather not take a risk on a hysterectomy. See post 49037 if

If you want to keep your uterus, don't give up! Maybe you could go to

another nearby city to find a good doctor who will do the myomectomy if that's

what

you really want.
