Guest guest
Unfortunately there is nothing you can tell her now that she has had her hysterectomy. I have a neighbor who sounded as ignorant as your friend(and I use that term in a nice way because before my research I was just as ignorant!) She is convinced she needs a hyster because her periods are sporadic. I tried taling to her but she wouldnt listen so finally I just told her to make sure she does her home work before you let somebody remove your body parts! And told her that if she needed some references or books etc. to let me know. The problem with your friend is that she could lead someone else down the wrong path with her being a nurse and all. How very sad. Leaks? Never heard of it! As far as Nurses being uniformed, try some of the Dr.s out there! My Gyno said I should wait 6 mos to see if my fibroid would shrink before doing anything....this is after a c-section and a soccer ball sized firboid. Did it shrink, well yes it did, but not for the reason he said it might (he said the lack of pregnancy hormones should make it shrink). It shrank a little due to the fact that it was dying, but I was on the verge of a hyrnia when I had my myo 2 weeks ago. Thank God for the Dr. who did my myo. I cant blame my gyno too much because I guess its hard to be an expert at everything. But if they arent sure or dont know cant they just say that? Thats why this group is so awesome! And doing your homework is so important. --- In uterinefibroids , ba1070@a... wrote: > Hi all - > > I want to share a conversation I had recently with an aquaintance that > underwent a hysterectomy to treat her fibroids. > > She had experienced tremendous pain on two occassions prior to her > hysterectomy. Guest guest
Nurses are human like everyone else. If pediatrics is her realm of expertise she doesn't deal with fibroids. Pediatric patients don't get fibroids so she won't lead any of them down the wrong road. How long has she been in Pediatrics? How long has she been out of school? There is a lot of information for nurses to learn and retain and as important as fibroids are to us they are not given a lot of time in the Nursing School cirriculum. You wouldn't go to an orthopedic surgeon for information on your fibroids, I wouldn't go the old " a nurse is a nurse " theory and expect her to know all either. That said your advise to her to do her own reseach is valuable as it sounds like somewhere she was given bad information and needs to do her own reading and research. Guest guest
I was working on a heart surgeon a month ago and was showing him one of the acupressure points for strength and endurance in the legs and as I was describing it's location he said, " I forgot all that stuff, I just know the systems I need to know really well. " hahaha. gigi the massage therapist. cdynan2001 wrote: >Nurses are human like everyone else. If pediatrics is her realm of >expertise she doesn't deal with fibroids. Guest guest
Hi BA1070; There are all kinds of myths floating around the medical world. I had and UAE/UFE which so far has been a very positive experience on March 18. My mother in law who has her masters in nursing/obgyn still insists that we don't need our uteri, that it's only a muscle. She poo pooed the idea that a hysto can cause heart problems and osteoporosis when I mentioned a few studies that had been done. She insists that I will have to still get a hysto because fibroids are " pre cancerous " . Aren't the cells either cancerous of benign? She keeps saying, " wait and see " , like she wants me to have a hysto!!! There are a lot of " old school " mindset type people in the medical profession who only talk about what they learned in med school a long time ago. ba1070@... wrote: She had experienced tremendous pain on two occassions prior to her hysterectomy. Guest guest
this confirms my belief that all mo in laws be shipped in small crates and dropped off into the outback....preferably a wee distance away from Ayers Rock..so as not to disturb the tourists. gigi Nordquist wrote: >Hi BA1070; > >There are all kinds of myths floating around the medical world.
