Guest guest
{duplicate posted on Healing Naturally group; apologies if you get two} Hi, I'm new to this group, so I'm eager to dive into the post archive and see what I can learn. I'm 31, diagnosed two years ago for the first time with fibroids, but only this year at my ob/gyn exam did my doctor say, " yeah, so, now they're huge and we should operate. " It was a bit of a shock that I'm just now getting over by doing all the reading and research I can. My particulars: I don't have any children, I probably want to (a decision whose resolution becomes more pressing when I consider treatment options), and my fibroids are almost completely asymptomatic, with the exception of mild " fullness " in my abdomen. Although I have an appointment to review my films with my doctor next week, what I've gleaned so far from him is that I have multiple and quite large fibroids. That's all I know for the moment. Based on all that, and the reading I've done, it seems like I may be headed for an abdominal myomectomy. However, I hope to perhaps buy some time and give the diet/hormonal/exercise plan a try, maybe for six months to see if I can even achieve some shrinkage that would result in a less traumatic surgery. Any advice/experiences from folks in similar situations is most welcome. Is the idea that getting pregnant without having done anything to treat the fibroids (even though they are not producing any symptoms) would be a bad thing? Or that even getting that far might not be feasible, due to potentially compromised fertility? Anyone had a good/bad experience with using more natural methods to at least reduce size, at best eliminate, fibroids, before trying more invasive methods? Lots of questions, not many answers at this point. And that's not even touching on the insurance issues! okay, that's it for now. amanda
