Guest guest
I am new to the group and would love to hear from others. My first clue finally showed up after the last round of vaccines with my four year old. It has answered a lot of heartache in my house. A little late but better than never. I have a 4 year old son who was reading and writing before he turned 4 years old on April 11. He was diagnosed with an allergy to milk protein in March 2004. He was active for his age so I put him on a gfcf diet. He was doing great. On April 28, 2004 the doctor informed me that he should have received an MMR at at 12 -15 months of age. Some how they missed this shot. He was given MMR, Polio, Hep B and DTAP on April 28, 2004. The first day he fell down a couple times. By the fourth day his leg swelled up and he told me did not feel well. The doctor told me he was fine. He started with whining and crying at silly things that never bothered him before the shot. By the 2nd week he was hiding behind furniture and growling at me. It was not all day, but a slow process. I noticed he was funny about going to the bathroom. He would get feces on the toilet seat and leave it there. He had never done this before the shot. The third week he was biting me and hitting me and making funny faces and laughing for no reason. He became aggressive. He would yell at me if I touched him. Noises bothered him. He seem most happy watch tv. His facial expression was very strange. He was withdrawn. He was constipated. My doctor sent us to several specialists who thought I was crazy. They all said vaccines do not cause behavior problems. My husband searched the web and found some info on the MMR and mercury. I called my doctor and asked him and he said the shot did not contain mercury. I asked him to mail me the info on the shots. The Hep B showed it contained (.5 mercury) in the info sheet that comes with the shot. I called my doctor and he said the bottle said it was free of mercury. In my search and by the grace of God I found the Autism Research Institute. My son was treated by a DAN Doctor on May 27, 2004. Within one week of treatment, he was able to write letters and read simple words. I finally stopped using the DAN doctor because she started to add things that would pull him back into the autism behavior, besides the fact I could not afford her. We are using a naturalpathic doctor. We are using the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (Scd) (www.pecanbread.com). We do a lot of supplements which also help. He had a lot of antibiotics as an infant until tubes were put in his ears. All the fecal, blood and urine test showed he had a serious bacteria infection called Clostridium difficile. The doctor treated with Flagyl. The MMR did a number on his gut (leaky gut). The Scd diet makes all the difference. I know in my heart if he would have received the MMR at 12 months, I would have never caught it but because he was reading and writing and had a wonderful vocabulary, I saw the difference. Also, I have a two year old who was diagnosed with Celiac disease at the age of 15 months. He received his Hep B at birth and MMR and other vaccines at 12 months. Three weeks later he was violently ill. Diarrha and vomiting for three months straight until the doctors suggested I put him on gf/soy well we waited for the test to come back. The tests came back neg but my son stopped vomiting and the diarrhea stopped and he gained one lb in one week. He was never the same. He weighed 22 lbs this March 2204. He was pale and very small for his age. When I found out about my four year old's milk allergy I put them both on GFCF and my two year old started to talk. He seem to be in his own little world. He now weighs 28 lbs and talks up a storm. It has been amazing. After going GF/soy and GFCF my two year old had what I would call rabbit poop. He was always constipated. Scd has turned that around. Also, his stomach is not bloated anymore. I also have a 15 year old who was diagnosed at the age of ten with Bipolar disorder. His constipation problems started at age three after the Hep B. He is also doing the diet and supplements and we have seen a dramatic change in him. My 15 year old's travel down a scare path of meds has not helped him. He has thyroid problems thanks to lithium. The doctors can give my childrens problems all of these different labels but it is all the same. I am trying to get the gut in order and get ready for chelation. I am little nervous about chelation but hope it answers our problems. I look forward to listening and learning from others. Thank you. Guest guest
Lynn, I read you story and started crying. You and your poor children have been horribly abused by the medical establishment. You are a brave soul. My son also regressed on the late side at 23 months and he was speaking so much at that point that it was very obvious what happened and I feel the loss profoundly and keep asking why. I am not a chelation expert and hope others can help you. We might try TD-DMPS in the future. I hope you are able to find a way to bring your children back to health. Guest guest
--Welcome to the group, you will find lots of understanding and hope here. And most of all help. My sons story is similar to yours. He is now 6 and in first grade and doing extremely well thanks to the people here. We have done a few years of chelation on him so far (we only do it once a month) and have seen many improvements. Treating the yeast and bacteria in my son also helped a TON. We are still battling yeast all the time (thanx to the hep B he got when he was only 3 hours old.)He too growled, yelled, hit, bit, and withdrew into himself (only to name a few) now he is still moody and goes through un-cooperative phases and has voice tics but compared to where we came from it is a miracle. He is doing well in school and has lots of friends. I never thought it would be possible when he was 2. Luckily I found this site and the enzymes and autism list. (enzymes helped a lot and if you are not using them you might want to try,)Good luck and know that you are never alone here. Patti > I am new to the group and would love to hear from others.
