Hi Pat!

Thanks for the e-mail. Yes, I believe we must use larger geographical areas.

For example, for me NYC (although there are 9 people signed up) is totally out

of the question. I'm about 2+ hours away (with NO traffic)! Some of the other

areas may be workable. The place where we had our 1/25 brunch (Fishkill, NY)

was a good location for some of us, while others had quite a long drive. I

guess it's difficult to plan the logistics for these meetups. But, let's all

keep on trying!

Thanks again, Edie

Subject: Answer for Edie on Meetups --

Edie (and group, of course):

If you go to the " members " page on the uterine fibroids meetups:

http://uterinefibroids.meetup.com/members/ - I think you'll get a better

idea what I'm talking about.

(Ladies you may need to BE a member in order to see this page - you can join

at: http://uterinefibroids.meetup.com/ )

The members page lists all the geographic regions where people have signed

up and shows how many are signed up in each region. It shows " New York

City " with 9 members signed up. Poughkeepsie and Westchester each have 2,

and many other NY and NJ sites have 1 each.

We have the same situation here in the San Francisco Bay Area where 5 people

are signed up in San Francisco proper - but 4 more in Alameda County right

across the Bay, and at least 3 other Bay Area regions have members signed

up.

I think that while we're getting this thing off the ground, we'll have to

get the meetups going in one of the official regions in a larger

geographical area. Then ladies from adjoining regions can join that meetup.

These regions are too small for most of us - at least for now & in urban

areas the boundaries are almost meaningless - the regions tend to all merge

into one another. In January when you and I attended successful gatherings

- we each drew ladies from a wide-geographical area.

Anyway, there were 8 people signed up in one region prior to last weekend -

that one region being " New York City " . So, it's possible that there

actually could have been a meetup there on Feb 21 (takes 5 confirmed

attendees to have the meeting be a " go. " ) That's what I was inquiring

about.

Meanwhile, I'm hoping that enough ladies will sign up, vote on a location

(or at least specify " no preference " ) -- and confirm their attendance in at

least one of the S.F. Bay regions for the March 20 meeting - and then ladies

from other Bay Area regions will be able to join that region's meetup.

Likewise, other parts of the country/world.

(I can't help but note that, for instance, there are 6 people in ATHENS

Greece signed up for " anarchy " meetups -- on an ENGLISH language website ---

certainly we can do better than that for uterine fibroids in an English

speaking country!)

Best,

Pat
