My Staples hurt when they were remved..i thought maybe they were not ready to be

removed as yet..i think staples heal better @ the incision line. less of a bulky

appearance!

For my surgery, I had Staples and they were removed after two days - no

pain. After that the doctor put the strips of tape on. After one week,

I peeled them off instead of waiting for them to come off by themselves.

The reason was that it was hard for me to keep the incision line

completely dry after showers - even with a hair dryer, and the part

under the tapes was getting red. Once they were off, everything was

fine. Now it's just a nice thin line that will fade after a year.

Steri-Strips aren't strong enough to hold an incision closed; they just

help hold the skin together for cosmetic purposes while the incision heals.

If you have Steri-Strips, you most likely had internal sutures.

My doctor told me that if my Steri-Strips didn't fall off by themselves

after a week, I could take them off, which I did.
