NY City Meet-Up -- Thks! (and more)

Hi Leonie and Carla -

I'm back home now, and just wanted to write to thank you so much for hosting a

very friendly and informative get-together. It was great to finally meet and

put a face to several of the names who I've been reading stories about on-line

here. It was also interesting listening to the questions posed by those

attending, and to the answers from both very knowledgable doctors, Dr

Silberzweig (sp?) and Dr West. I'm thankful that there are doctors such as

these two, as well as others mentioned around the country on this site, who are

able to demonstrate that they really respect and care about women. Dr's

Silberzweig and West answered questions in a way that was both sincere and

understandable, and further showed their generosity and dedication to women like

us by their willingness to continue talking with us, even way after the

'official' 4pm meet-up ending time. My very dear husband was also impressed.

And WHERE did all that FOOD come from??!!

In my own case, I had considered the UAE procedure, but one of my primary

criteria was to maintain fertility and ttc ((further--I wanted those punkin's

right outta there!)). The mention of as yet unknown possible long-term mental

and/or physical affects on a baby following this procedure on the mother was

presented as an important consideration for those searching for a solution to

fibroids, who also have the goal of a pregnancy in the future. I went with a

myo. For me, the recovery time has seemed extraordinarily quick (ie, I'm sure

my body will take awhile longer to heal up 100% inside, but I can already

physically do most of what I was doing before last week, as long as it doesn't

involve lifting my luggage into the overhead rack of the airplane

...ex-I did some gardening today, after walking over 45

blocks Sunday, and hauling luggage around yesterday) and, Dr said during

yesterday's post-op that we can ttc in 3 more weeks--we'll see on that

one...like ne in FL, I might want to try out my (really) old bikini

before I go for the 5-6 mth pregnant look so soon again!

PS - I neglected to mention to the LOL my other alternative for exorcising my

fibroids -- my brother is a veterinarian, and he offered upon several occasions

to give me a myo, on the side. OK ... so maybe I'm not built like a

cow/horse/cat/dog, and that could possibly cause some confusion during surgery,

but the real clincher for me was ..... he simply could NOT guarantee me ' " NO

HYSTO !! " (ie, just like some of the Dr's I'd talked to here).
