Hi

I used to be very active too 3 years ago before I

started getting lots of pains through my growing

fibroid. I used to go to the gym 2/3 times a week, do

salsa dancing and go hill walking. I kept up the gym-

but mostly swimming and yoga - almost up to time of my

myo.

Now I'm just into my 4th week post-myo and I'm trying

to increase my walking a little each day- very slowly

but surely. In UK they advise you not do do any

exercise for 6 weeks- but I think they mean heavy

exercise like the gym, tennis or squash. According to

a friend of mine who's a physiotheraspist she

suggested that gentle yoga or gentle pilates would be

good from week 5 if I'm up to it. There are many

different types of yoga as I'm sure you know, but I

used to do ashtanga yoga which is the most energetic

type- so I'm certainly not going to be doing this type

for a while!! I think the best thing is to listen to

your body- and don't try to push yourself and get

plenty of rest. I would suggest going for a short walk

every day, increasing it gradually. At the moment I've

managed to walk for about 10 minutes before feeling

exhausted.

All the best

Sue
