Hi ,

Your symptoms sound just like mine.

I went in for a routine exam just over a week ago and the doctor

also felt an enlarged uterus and can could feel a grapefuit sized

firbroid as well. I am still waiting for my ultrasound.

My periods have always been heavy but are VERY heavy for 3 days and

then I spott for a few. I have to double up on the super huge pads

and my periods are also more painful - almost like mild labour pains

with pelvic pressure and lower back pain. I get extremely bloated

as well and cannot even consider my blue jeans for a few days.

My main symptom is frequent need to pee but also have had some

constipation as well.

I think the hardest thing for me is get used to the idea that there

is this thing growing inside of me and it is not human.

I'm 44 and have very similar symptoms. All of the tests I've had have come back

normal (colonoscopy, upper GI and small bowel series, CT scan). All I know for

sure is that I have 2 intramural fibroids - 1 about 3 cm and the other a little

smaller. Along with the symptoms you say you have, I am also very tired most of

the time, especially the week before my period is due. I've had blood work done

for anemia and all the blood work came back normal. I just recently had a

Sonohysterography which just showed the 2 fibroids. I don't know if there are

others hiding somewhere. Next week I'm starting on birth control pills to try

to control the heavy bleeding.

I understand your frustration. The doctors I've had, don't seem to have a clue

about the issues that fibroids can cause. My PCP kept trying to push different

drugs on me, including anti-depressants. The only thing that depresses me is

doctors who don't have a clue about fibroids and don't know where to refer you

to get the right treatment.

Once I'm on the birth control pills for a couple of months, I'll report back, as

to whether or not they help any.

Newbie with odd symptoms

Hi All,

I am new to this group. i had gone to my doctor for a routine

physical and to discuss some GI complaints. During exam an enlarged

uterus was felt. I was sent for an ultrasound and the results

showed a fibroid ( I believe in the uterus) measuring 6cm by 6cm.

i also have a retroverted uterus. My question to all of you is

this: Has anybody experienced colitis type symptoms as well as

rectal pressure and also upper GI symptoms like pain above navel and

bloating with their fibroids. I was also sent to a GI doctor, but

upon hearing about my fibroid, he is halting further testing to see

if I get relief from removal of the fibroid. My family doctor seems

to feel the tumor could be putting presuure on my bowels. I go for

the GYN consult this Wed. I am 45, am also experiencing the heavier

bleeding and pressure in the pelvic region along with sciatic pain.

i am most interested in anyone else who has had similar symptoms, as

I am becoming extremely frustrated with my body right now. Sorry

for the long post....glad theirs a group out there like this.

Thanks

I had surgery 3 months ago. I have retroverted uterus and I had a

fibroid in the posterior uterus. I had many GI symptoms. I used to

say that I felt like I had a stick up my @#)$@#. That is much

better now but I still have some complications from surgery, which I

have discussed on ths board somewhat.
