Guest guest Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 , That sounds like a question only you can answer. As for myself I told my wife if she wanted to she could but she said shes with me till the end thank GOD but I felt it was only fair to her.I told her I would rather get a divorce first though so she wouldnt be stuck with the bills or the worry.I guess its different for women though. We can still have sex but its difficult and I cant move the way I used too so I dont bother her about it and shes the type that can do without it.I guess you will have to figure out how you would feel about it and you two sit down and talk about it in depth. Guest guest Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 Get to a councilor that specializes in working with couples with chronic diseases. Guest guest Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 Hi . I agree with Dale. Before you give him the 'go ahead', try to see a counselor that works in the area of chronic illnesses. In my area there is an ALS Society who can refer you to such a person. Perhaps there are other alternatives that could be explored. Hugs. Guest guest Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 Sounds like a question for Dr. Phil to me. There are way too many 'what if's that neither of you have probably thought of at this point. Now for next part of my statement I will go ahead and apologize beforehand to the individuals that find it offensive. About 9 months ago I ran across a program on Nova (of all places) on Techno Sex. I was utterly amazed. The unit they demo-ed was for the female's enjoyment but they also described the R&D on the male unit. The female unit was a reclining lounge with separate moveable supports for legs and arms. Without making this a porno message I will simply say everything was connected in someway to a computer. The partner could talk and interact with the female thru the computer whether they were in the room, down the hall or on a business trip in Tokoyo. Items of the aparatus could be lengthen, shortened, widened, narrowed, accelerated,increased/decreased in pressure and/or speed by the partner in response to the female's communication. Nova detailed uses/needs for such devices such as a spouse who is quadraplegic, irreversible erectile dysfunction, a spouse who is constantly traveling on long overseas trips, and of course on the dark side Internet sexual gradification with animinity, no risk of pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. Ok so now I imagine several males in this group are already on Google. lol Please investigate all other possibilities thru counseling and a joint session with your family doctor. Guest guest Posted February 5, 2006 Report Posted February 5, 2006 : I asked myself what I would do if my husband of 45 years had ever asked me that question, and here is what my answer would have been, absolutely NO! I couldn't imagine him with any other woman, and I couldn't handle that kind of stress. When we married we talked about situations like that, and what we would do, and he we said we would be and stay together no matter what, and that day did come when I was diagnosed in 1986. I was young when this hit me, and even though it did take it's toll on our sex life at one time or another, the was and still is enough love to hold us together till the end comes. I sometimes ask him how he can still be physically attractive to some one who walks like the enstein Monster, and he gets very upset with me, and says to me what if I were in your shoes??? It's called unconditional love, and we have it. I can't tell you as a couple what to do or how to handle your particular situation, but if there is a will there is a way (if you get m e message). Good Luck to you an do hope you can work it out. Rita Till next time! Love & Hugs ****************************** Some people succeed in spite of their handicap. Guest guest Posted February 6, 2006 Report Posted February 6, 2006 That would be a personal decision but for me I couldn't stand knowing my hubby was having sex with someone else. Guest guest Posted February 7, 2006 Report Posted February 7, 2006 OK, now that others have had their say I have a suggestion--tell your hubby to " Talk to the Hand! " if you know what I mean! ;o) Not judging but I know it wouldn't be acceptable for me! I consider this reply offensive. aussie maureen > > OK, now that others have had their say I have a suggestion--tell your > hubby to " Talk to the Hand! Guest guest Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 Hi , I don't know how affected you are by PLS but I would think you could still have sex with your husband and he wouldn't need to look elsewhere for physical release. There are books and magazines that deal with issues such as sex and physically challenged people. I would think there are lots of things you & your husband could do together which could bring pleasure to both of you, just use your imagination and ge tsome books or whatever it takes. I sure wouldn't want my husband looking to have sex with someone else cause I'm afraid it would lead to more than just sex unless of course he would go to a prostitute and pay for sex so it would be less likey to lead to more. What about your physical needs and desires and intimacy like cuddling and holding each other and so on. Good luck and I hope you find a solution that works for you & your husband. I can't wait to hear what SueMe has to say on this subject.
