Hi everyone. I just found out I have a large fibroid in my uterus. I'm 28 &

don't have any children yet. I was wanting to know if anyone in here knows of

any good drs. in Missouri that handle myomectomies. I have Blue Choice ins. so

I'm limited to the dr. I can choose. Any information would be GREATLY

appreciated.

Where in Missouri do you live? You might want to consider a RE. They may better

help you save your fertility.

My fibroid was same as yours, I had a myo.

Hi, Miranda:

I¹m in St. Louis; while I haven¹t yet used a doctor for any of these

procedures, my ob/gyn recommended a surgeon at St. ¹s named Levine

(I think his practice is in Chesterfield somewhere.)

Good luck,

Thanks for the info. . I'll keep Dr. Levine in mind. Are you going to

have anything done? If so, good luck to you.

I just started seeing Ratts, an RE at Wash U. She explained

everything very well and told me my options. She does hysteroscopic

resections and UAE. At my first visit with her, she did blood work and an

endometrial biopsy. I'm going in next week for a sonohysterography. She

said if we decided on a hysterecomy, she would have the gyn do it, since

she hasn't done very many of them.

Let me know if you want any more info.

Hi --

I don't know if Kansas City is too far for you, but I'm very pleased

with the GYN who did my myo (11-cm fibroid) almost two months ago.

His name is Francis Ferns: .

Good luck!

Dr. Ratt's office is at 4444 Forest Park Avenue, Suite 3100, St. Louis, 63108.

It's near Kingshighway, north of 40. The phone number is . I really

like the fact that she performs all the tests at her office.

Hi,

A RE did my myo last Aug.. It went very well. No more heavy bleeding. It's

shocking how my life has improved. I only wish I had did it much sooner. I went

home the next day and slowly healed up fine. Of course there's pain involved

like in any surgery but this can be controlled with meds. It depends on your job

as far as going back to work. Yes, fertility was saved.

I couldn't have a UAE. Hyst was out of the question whether I wanted fertility

or not. Too many chances of problems after. You can get a recurrance of fibroids

after myo but they may not cause any problems and the stats are more favorable

that you won't.

Get the best myo surgeon you can find. Ask how many myos the doc does and if

they have problems. Your best bet might be a RE.

Many here have had myos and then a baby. You woyuld need to deliver by C

section.

Hi. I don't know if I ever thanked you for the info. If so, thanks again. I

think KC is out-of-network for my insurance but I will definitely keep him in

mind, if all else fails.
