Hi all:

I am now having my first period after my myo. It has been very heavy and I have

had some cramping. The cramping isn't as bad as before the myo, but I have

experienced it. The bleeding has been very heavy, not much clotting, but I have

had to change pads very frequently. I'm sorry this can sound gross, but I was

wondering what type of experience any of you had. I thought after the surgery,

I wouldn't have to suffer anymore. Is this normal? I've even worried abot

fibroids growing back and causing the heavy bleeding. Any comments will be

welcomed. Thanks for all the support.

Dear Jackie,

Don't worry. My doctor told me that I can expect my first period after the myo

to be heavy because the uterine walls are still week, so he gave me some drops

toprevent heavy bleeding. It takes four to six weeks for the uterus to

strenghten and to go back to its previous form and position.

My first period post myo was bloody and I was

disappointed. But these last two have been what I

assume are closer to normal. I was able to use

tampons and they stayed in! I was able to wear

regular pads. It just took a period to get back on

track

Jackie,

Try not to worry. My first period after my resection was much heavier

than before. I was scared and disappointed. I even wanted to go to the

emergency room because the bleeding was so different (and worst).

But when I calmed down, I noticed, that the period was less painful,

and it was completely over within 5 days. That was definitely an

improvement. I already had my second period, which had only 1 day of

very heavy bleeding, minimal cramps, and was over in 4 days - compare

to realy bad pain and sometimes 10-14 days of on/off bleeding before.

This is already a big success for me. So just hang in there, and be

patient. I am sure you will see improvement soon,

Eva
