Re: Fatigue and fibroids/Vertical incision

I have found that even if I am not technically anaemic according to

my blood count, if my iron/ferritin levels are below a normal

person's range, I feel pretty much the same as when I am anaemic.

I have just turned 32 and can't wait for this to be over. I am

having an ab.myo on Monday.

My uterus is equivalent to a 24 week pregnancy and my doc think they

will have to do a vertical incision. I got a second opinion on this

from another doc who said that it depends on how movable my uterus

will be when I am under - however, because the fibroids are quite

high up, a vertical incision is likely to be needed to be able to

access the fibroids.

Unfortunately both docs seem to think that I am a breeding ground for

fibroids and am likely to be back in the same position in 2-5 years

time and that I shouldn't delay having children...

I really tried hard to avoid having an operation - it took me being

admitted to hospital in January and losing around 3 pints of blood in

1 day to realise that this has gone on for far too long already.

Best wishes to everyone else trying to make a decision as to how to

be treated.

Dear vgrove72,

I had the Uterine Artery Embolization done four years ago and before that I

suffered a great deal, specially when Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia,

refused full financial coverage for the UAE procedure. Their excuse: It was

investigational. MyHealth condition was worse than yours and I have been a

happy puppy since the procedure. At the present time I am suing the BCBSGA,

do you believe that when I went and had the procedure they paid the

$10,000.00 hospital bill and refused to paid $6,160.00 Doctor's bill.

According to BCBSGA this was done in error. This error took place at the

time BCBSGA was denied me financial coverage for the UAE the same procedure

was granted to women suffering from fibroid tumors in the Atlanta, GA metro

area. Discuss this procedure with your gynecologist, the recovery period isd

10 days, and my condition improved 100% no pain, no bleeding, no anemia, it

has been just great. Simone Baxendale e-mail ojandrj@...
