Guest guest
Hi Dawn, I had a vertical incision for my ab myo on 2/19. My Dr. decided to use the same incision that they used for my emergency c/section a year earlier which was vertical. Some conversation was raised about vertical incisions several weeks ago on this board - from what I remember those with vertical incisions (including myself) didn't find it any more difficult to heal from than a bikini cut. If you search the archives for vertical incisions you should find these posts. I'm guessing that some Drs. will use the vertical incision instead of the bikini incision if your fibroids are high up. Be sure to ask you Dr. why s/he is choosing this type of incision. However, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm 6 weeks post myo with a vertical incision and feel great & have for several weeks. Good luck to you! ~Cindy > My doctor wants to do a vertical cut. I would appreciate the information so > that I have a better sense of what I am facing and/or > if I have other viable options. Guest guest
Hey Dawn, I had a vertical cut because my fibroids went up to my ribcage and my Doc did not think he could do it with a bikini (turns out he was right). Are your fibroids really large? I think most cases a bikini cut can be done. In talking to other ladies that had the bikini cut...I seem to have healed in the same amount of time. You are right cosmetically....you are never really going to see the bikini cut...but the vertical you are. Let me know if you have any other questions! > My doctor wants to do a vertical cut. Guest guest
I had a bikini cut too seven months ago, and it feels good not seeing that cut each time you stand in front of a mirror.
Guest guest
When my dr. first talked to me about doing a myo, she said she would do a 't' cut on me. Both ways! Ugh. My largest is only 6cm, so I don't understand why that would be necessary. If I do decide to get the surgery, I will be looking for someone else to do it. > I had a bikini cut too seven months ago, and it feels > good not seeing that cut each time you stand in front > of a mirror. Guest guest
Hi, I had a big bikini (9 " ) cut and my huge uterus was above my naval. It's a long inscision. I sweated about any scar biz (huge cry fest) right before surgery but I would have been ok with whatevever my dr. felt was needed. I had surgery in November,03 and half of my inscision is barely offensive to me now but I looked rumply like ET for a few months and now I call my inscision mr smiley face, cause thats what it looks like. I wonder if the vertical inscision heals up faster. Was actually wishing for a vertical cut as I thought the periodic swelling might not show so much or would be lesser. Best wishes, Jan G
