Guest guest
Hi, There is a long list of physicians in the Database link on the left hand side that members have used in NYC. Click on Database, then Physicians, Scroll down the list by clicking on Next for the next page and Previous to return to the former page. You can also use the Find a physician link and click on at the following websites: American Society for Reproductive Medicine (asrm.com/) American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopy (aagl.com) AAGL website is temporarilly down for maintainence this morning and will be available later today. Guest guest
Hi nne: You do not have to give your doctor the authority to go ahead with a hysterectomy, if he feels the myo is not going to his satisfaction. It sounds like your doctor may be somewhat unskilled at performing myos and wants an easy and quick out, if he finds that during the surgery, he is in over his head. You need to contact your doctor and tell him that you do not want a hysterectomy and will not give your consent to him performing one. Additionally, go ahead with your search for a second opinion from a doctor who specializes in myomectomies, or who at least will perform them without the impending threat of a hysterectomy. I live in Chicago and not New York, so I don't have a referral for you. However, I am sure our New York LOL sisters will give you some pointers in this regard. Good luck! Joyce Help !!!!!!! Hello Ladies, I told yours about my big fibroids regrowth so quick, the Dr told me infront of the withness that he'll try to make myomectomy but in case he cannot stop bleeding, he'll practice hysterecthomy, operation is schedule on March 2nd. Help me please, I am so scare, I don't want to loose my uterus, I am just turn 34th on Febuary and woul like to have alot of babies. Can any body known another good medecin specialist on big fibroids in New York or in the area ? Thank you for resdponding.
Guest guest
I was told physicians not as skilled at performing myos can experience excessive blood loss, which is what leads to the hysterectomy. When I was researching doctors I was told my uterus would be removed if I was close to death (too much blood loss) and I was also told that the uterus may or may not be able to be reconstructed so it is viable for children. The surgeon I am seeing in March never said any of those things. He performs multiple myos. I do think if fertility is of the utmost importance to you - as it is to me- searching around for the right surgeon is worth wait. > Hi nne: > > You do not have to give your doctor the authority to go ahead with a hysterectomy, if he feels the myo is not going to his satisfaction. Guest guest
At " Open Doors " last year, video clips of myomectomies were shown and there didn't appear to be much blood loss with this operation. Yet, this is one of the " myths " that doctors tell patients to scare us away from myomectomy and push them us hysterectomy (the surgery many doctors are more skilled and comfortable with). My own gynecologist told me " oh yea I could do a myomectomy, but it would be so bloody! " ….I found a new doctor. > > Additionally, go ahead with your search for a second opinion from a doctor who specializes in myomectomies, or who at least will perform them without the impending threat of a hysterectomy. > > Help !!!!!!! > > I told yours about my big fibroids regrowth so quick, the Dr > > told me infront of the withness that he'll try to make myomectomy but in > > case he cannot stop bleeding, he'll practice hysterecthomy, > > operation is schedule on March 2nd. Guest guest
Hello, If you are this scared about this doctor and the surgery, IMO you should cancel it. The surgery is probably elective which means you have time to find a skilled surgeon who never converts to hysterectomy. In reading about myomectomy, I've come to believe that surgeons who are not good at this procedure convert to hysterectomy to cover their asses. And they won't admit that they just aren't skilled at what they are attempting to do. I don't live in NY but I would encourage you to cancel your surgery and find a doctor you trust who has confidence in his/her skill. Take care, Gloria > I told yours about my big fibroids regrowth so quick, the Dr told me infront of the withness that he'll try to make myomectomy but in case he cannot stop bleeding, he'll practice hysterecthomy, operation is schedule on March 2nd.
