Sorry I don't know of any website with UD statistics.

I am a UD also. I am sorry to hear of the two M/C, but at least you are

blessed with another little angle. Congrats!!!!!! I hope things keep going well

for you. I was wondering if you used any medication to get pregnant & how long

you were TTC?

My DH & I are trying we have had 3 cycles of clomid therapy. This month I am

going with out it. The doctor will not give me more until I see him again.

Lucky me he is going on vacation this month. Any advise, stories would be

greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Kristi,

Thank you for your kind thoughts and words. I did not take any medication in

TTC. I have been lucky that way. I was seeing an RE but he wanted me to keep TTC

by myself considering that I had been able to get pregnant twice before.

Hopefully the third times the charm. I don't have any great success storied for

you. There are people in this group that do however. Keep a lookout for them.

There's not too many of us that have UD in the group. If I hear of anything I

will be sure to write in. I will keep you and your DH in my prayers so that you

may get pg soon. If you need anything please write me. Thanks

Brandee,

I also have UD (at least that's the current dx). I had two 1st term

miscarriages and lost my daughter at 21 wks gestation this past

Septembr. The reason for the loss was diagnosed as incompetent cervix

(IC). At this point I don't know how much the UD has to do with any

of these losses. My gut feeling is that I simply may not have been

ready (under lots of stress at work etc) the first two times. I have

seen references to a higher rate of IC in cases where MAs are present

but I'm not sure if that is true or not. Just in case, make sure you

know what the symptoms of IC and preterm labor are and take things

very slowly.

There are women here with UD that are just about at full term right

now so, there are many stories with happy endings!

Good Luck!

Hi Brandee-

I'm a too! And I have UD. I don't have any statistics but I'm

a good one! My story: started ttc 7/99, conceived 1/01 but

miscarried 3/01 (went to ER bleeding @ 11 wks and they said baby

stopped growing at 8 wks and told me I was " different " and needed to

be checked out), had a D&C, went to an RE 5/01 and was diagnosed with

UD, had a laparoscopy to remove some endo but basically just to check

out everything in there and everything looked clear, tried Clomid &

IUI (artificial insem) but Clomid makes my uterine lining not thicken

at all so it obviously won't help me conceive, tried Femara & IUI but

nothing happened even though everything was textbook perfect, took a

few months off to wait for new insurance to kick in to cover

injectable hormone drugs, 01/02/02 bought $2,000 worth of drugs and

waited for my period to start so we could do the cycle, but found out

on 1/20/02 that I was already pregnant naturally! I was watched by my

RE until 12 wks, then sent to my OB who saw me every 2 weeks until the

last 6 weeks and then it was every week. They thought since the

uterus was smaller, I'd have possible pre-term labor but I just kept

on stretching that right uterus out and everything was perfectly fine

except my baby was pushing on my upper right ribs so hard! They

induced me 4 days before my due date on 9/18/02 after applying gel to

my cervix the night before to soften it. I was only a fingertip

dilated they said but I don't think I was dilated at all. The gel did

nothing, the pitocin gave me NO contractions (I had none the whole

pregnancy), and they determined this baby wouldn't come out the normal

way due to the way my uteruses are situated. So we opted for a C-

section and an hour later I held my perfect baby girl! Absolutely no

complications with the pregnancy but my body doesn't know how to get

the baby out! =) Fast forward 10 months, I got pregnant naturallly

again but miscarried at 6 weeks. Baby stayed but just stopped growing

like the time before. This was in my left uterus. Fast forward a

year, I went to a different RE to help me get pregnant again or see if

I had other issues. She diagnosed me off an initial ultrasound as SU

and scheduled an operation for the next month to remove the septum.

ONE WEEK LATER, I found out I was pregnant naturally, cancelled the

surgery, had another uneventful and wonderful pregnancy in my left

uterus this time, and delivered 10 days early by C-section to another

perfect baby girl. Again, had no dilation and no contractions. My OB

guaranteed me 100% that I have UD, so... I THINK I have UD. =) Yes,

I've had two miscarriages but have no idea if it's related to UD and I

have two perfect kids. BEST WISHES FOR A BORING PREGNANCY!!!!! =)

Hi ! That's a great story. I hope mine ends as positively as yours. My

first m/c was VERY early. I thought it was my perios but it wouldn't end so I

went to see the dr. I had taken a pg test and it came back negative but a couple

weeks later at the dr's office it came back positive. However, I was already in

the process of m/c. My second m/c I was 6 weeks and I started bleeding on a

Friday and was put on bedrest for the weekend. I had an u/s scheduled that Mon.

with a peri. I went to the appt. only to find out that I had already m/c over

the weekend. After that I went to see an RE. He was great. He ran some tests and

bloodwork to rule out a few things and everything looked great. There was no

explanation for the m/c except bad luck or maybe the UD. I didn't even talk to

the RE about meds for getting pg because that didn't seem to be a problem for

me. After the first m/c as soon as we got the go ahead to ttc again I got pg.

Then after the second one it only took us a month and

the green light was given. So here I am again. My RE saw me at 5 weeks and did

an u/s and said everything looks healthy. He also said it didn't matter what

side I got pg in because both sides were big and healthy. At that point he said

he didn't need to see me anymore unless I had some complications. So I am with

my ob/gyn now. I have seen him about every 2 weeks so far. I am going to see the

peri in a couple weeks as well for a more sophisticated u/s. I asked my dr if he

was going to monitor me more closely and he said yes but he wouldn't be

ridiculous about it. I see him again on the 17th and I will talk to him about it

again. If he's not going to see me every 2 weeks then I might switch drs. I also

heard that I should have my cervix measured throughout the pg to check for

incompetent cervix. I need to look up the symptoms of IC and preterm labor just

to be in the know. Anyway, I appreciate you sharing your story with me. I have

been feeling a bit nervous lately. Kidn of like

waiting for the bomb to drop. But I'm also trying to stay positive. If I could

monitor the baby 24/7 I'd be in a lot better state of mind. Then again, this is

one of those things we will never be able to control. Thanks for your help and

anything you want to suggest or say id very much appreciated. Good luck to you

and your family!

Brandee,

My MA is called Unicornuate Uterus, but much of the rest of my story is

similar to yours.

I get pg easily (if we time it right, I'm pg) but lost my first pg (and I

think it was actually my 2nd...but cannot be sure) at 10wks, the HB never showed

up on u/s.

This pg I'm being followed closely by my OB, every two weeks w/ monitoring of

cervix, but this was only after being hospitalized for contractions at 19wks and

a meeting with the peri who sent the two week & cervical monitoring instructions

to my OBs.

Waiting for the other shoe to drop....I understand this feeling. Been waiting

the whole pg for it and only recently have begun to relax a tiny bit at a time.

I'm now 22wks 5days and the hospital I'm delivering at has a good success right

with micropreemies.

I want you to know that despite all my fears and the risks of IC or PTL (knock

on wood) I and my baby are doing well. My cervix has stayed over 3cm (3-4cm is

normal and not cause for any concern) and my contractions have never affected my

cervix. My little boy is growing like a weed and is always active and healthy

on u/s.

If you're like me, and most pg mommies, you won't be able to feel totally

secure with yr pg until you carry your baby home from the hospital. so, I won't

tell you to " relax " . Keep on top of your obs, know what and when for tests and

monitoring and medications (women here can give you that advice), ask your OBs

lots of questions, and practice some form of meditation/prayer/yoga to help you

stay calm and serene.

Good luck, best wishes, sticky baby vibes...

Hi . Thanks for your support. I am very excited for you and your baby boy

and I will keep both pf you in my prayers. I totally understand everything you

said and I am sure I will get more answers from my peri when I see him in about

3 weeks. The only problem I'm having is that I don't know what should come next

or what questions to ask. I don't know what is normal and what isn't. I do know

to ask about measuring the cervix and I will ask the peri to request that I be

seen every two weeks. Other than that I just go on what they tell me. I do like

my ob/gyn a lot but I just feel he dismisses things too easily or he's too

relaxed about it. Maybe it's because I am the one carrying the baby and nervous

about it. My dr is a no bullsh-t kind of man but sometimes I wish he were a

little more sensitive. Anyway, I go to the ob on the 17th, which feels like a

lifetime away, but I am doing better today than yesterday. I just freak out

every now and then. He will schedule me with the peri

about 2 weeks from then but I will request it to be as soon as possible. I

really like the peri...I saw him with my second m/c and he will talk to me

forever and be very helpful. In the meantime, any advice or info that you have

is much appreciated. Please keep me and my baby in your prayers and I'll do the

same for you. Thanks.

Good luck, best wishes, sticky baby vibes...

with a peri. I went to the appt. only to find out that I had already m/c over

bloodwork to rule out a few things and everything looked great. There was no

explanation for the m/c except bad luck or maybe the UD. I didn't even talk to

the RE about meds for getting pg because that didn't seem to be a problem for

Then after the second one it only took us a month and

an u/s and said everything looks healthy.

If I could

Hi Brandee-

Thanks.

Brandee,

I felt for the first 19 wks (until I was admitted to the hospital after the

8th time in triage at l&d with contractions!!!) that my regular OBs, while good

doctors, were too relaxed and dismissive of the risks my UU could pose. so, I

empathize with you on that.

funny thing about your peri, I've had similar experiences with specialists.

My peri and an OB/GYN oncologist (who did my surgery-noncancer-over the summer)

have been patient, understanding and seem much more willing to sit and talk

until I'm comfortable too. Maybe it's because they have fewer patients so they

feel less rushed?

The 2ww in between appts always feels like forever to me too! I spend the

days in between those appts waiting for that proverbial shoe! This is were

prayer and meditation work wonders for me.

Post to the ladies on this group for questions to ask, what happens next, etc.

I'm new to this so still learning as I go. the BTDTs can be a great resource

for you!

good luck

I spend the

Post to the ladies on this group for questions to ask, what happens next, etc.

Hi Brandee-

I also saw a high-risk dr along with my regular OB for a while and

he said I was too far along (at 16 weeks) to tell if I truly had UD

on his fancy ultrasound machine but he thought that's what I had

too. Also he measured my cervix a million times and mine never

thinned out at all, so no worries there for me but yes, definitely

get checked! I got so sick of all of my appts but I would have been

a nervous wreck without them. =) I also rented a fetal doppler with

both of my girls, so I could hear their heartbeats any time I was

starting to worry. That helped me. =)

Good luck!

> Hi ! That's a great story. I hope mine ends as positively as

yours. My first m/c was VERY early. I thought it was my perios but

it wouldn't end so I went to see the dr. I had taken a pg test and

it came back negative but a couple weeks later at the dr's office it

came back positive. However, I was already in the process of m/c. My

second m/c I was 6 weeks and I started bleeding on a Friday and was

put on bedrest for the weekend. I had an u/s scheduled that Mon.

with a peri. I went to the appt. only to find out that I had already

m/c over the weekend. After that I went to see an RE. He was great.

He ran some tests and bloodwork to rule out a few things and

everything looked great. There was no explanation for the m/c except

bad luck or maybe the UD. I didn't even talk to the RE about meds

for getting pg because that didn't seem to be a problem for me.

After the first m/c as soon as we got the go ahead to ttc again I

got pg. Then after the second one it only took us a month and

> the green light was given. So here I am again. My RE saw me at 5

weeks and did an u/s and said everything looks healthy. He also said

it didn't matter what side I got pg in because both sides were big

and healthy. At that point he said he didn't need to see me anymore

unless I had some complications. So I am with my ob/gyn now. I have

seen him about every 2 weeks so far. I am going to see the peri in a

couple weeks as well for a more sophisticated u/s. I asked my dr if

he was going to monitor me more closely and he said yes but he

wouldn't be ridiculous about it. I see him again on the 17th and I

will talk to him about it again. If he's not going to see me every 2

weeks then I might switch drs. I also heard that I should have my

cervix measured throughout the pg to check for incompetent cervix. I

need to look up the symptoms of IC and preterm labor just to be in

the know. Anyway, I appreciate you sharing your story with me. I

have been feeling a bit nervous lately. Kidn of like

> waiting for the bomb to drop. But I'm also trying to stay

positive. If I could monitor the baby 24/7 I'd be in a lot better

state of mind. Then again, this is one of those things we will never

be able to control. Thanks for your help and anything you want to

suggest or say id very much appreciated. Good luck to you and your

family!
