Guest guest
Janet Not sure what mullerian anomalies is. But, I can tell you I had a 10 cm fibroid with symtoms of gushing, hemmoraging, and some bulk symtoms. I had an embolization back in January and am doing great. It was the best thing I could have done. If you qualify as a candidate, I would highly recommend this procedure. I am doing great!! I would also encourage you to join the yahoo embo group. This is a group who are going through the decision process, asking wo many questions, and have been through the procedure. Good luck! So far, I have been unable to connect with anyone who has a Mullerian Anomaly and has been successfully treated for fibroids without resorting to hysterectomy. My choices seem to be uterine fibroid embellization or myomectomy (sp?). If anyone out there has any experience with this particular situation, I would really appreciate a response to my inquiry. Guest guest
Mullerian anomolies are malformations of the uterus. They are fairly rare and can be treated surgically in some cases depending on the structural defect. This article describes them in detail and if you scroll down towards the end there are photos and diagrams showing different types of defects: Uterus, Mullerian Duct Abnormalities Author: Ibrahim Syed, MD, Lecturer, Department of Radiology, Section of MRI, University of Michigan Medical Center http://www.emedicine.com/radio/topic738.htm I also found a couple links to some radiology sites referring to uterine fibroids and mullerian anomolies. I didn't have time to search for more right now but if you want more just search on these words in Google: " mullerian fibroid " Septate versus bicornuate uteri: errors in imaging diagnosis KL Reuter, DC Daly and SM Cohen Department of Radiology, University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester 01655. http://radiology.rsnajnls.org/cgi/content/abstract/172/3/749 CASE: MR - Extremely Rare Uterine Anomaly (Wake Radiology) http://www.wakerad.com/cases/case9.html --Ann > Not sure what mullerian anomalies is.
