Guest guest
i am currently going to a Naturopath. DIM plus can be found in health food stores. I suggest DIM plus and Calcium Gluconarate (spelling?) I think DIM plus is an estrogen metablizer. Just so that you know, my Naturopath is able to obtain better natural herbs and medications than any we can buy in the stores. I have taken estrogen metabolizers, that, i guess are in a stronger version than the stores. I am also taking a Chinese herb that is prescribed by my naturopath. anyway, are you able to see a naturopath in your area? they have access to the best stuff and pretty much know what you need. Also, things to try, for reducing or not letting the fibroids grow..... Try organic meat, dairy, coffee cruciferous vegetables, eat plenty ........ broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage, brussel sprouts Flax seeds (not the oil) I grind the flax seeds and put them in my cereal pure water, filtered green tea, lotsa this Fish, salmon is really good, i take fish oil every day Decrease, as much as possible, coffee, alcohol (i am almost none on the alcohol),simple sugars
Guest guest
Hi Patty- Thanks for taking the time to respond to my query. Things are tight right now so I am not able to afford a naturopath unless they charge is very reasonable; maybe I'll ask the list if they can recommend anyone in my area. I am bracing myself for the possibility of more fibroid surgery in the near future due to digestive troubles affected by the fibroids; I had a successful resection last year for a very troublesome submucoasal fibroid and hoped to not have to deal with the others right away. I went organic in 2002, stopped coffee and alcohol after some thyroid problems surfaced, and feel much better for it, though my fibroids have not shrunk a bit, but thanks for the suggestions. I am a little concerned about the green tea that you are drinking a lot of - I think I read somewhere that green tea has estrogenic qualities...something to check out... Thanks again- Jan There was a time, on 6/11/04 5:11 PM, Patty at aerobicsgal@... wrote this: i am currently going to a Naturopath. DIM plus can be found in health food stores. Guest guest
thanks for the feedback, especially regarding the estrogenic properties of green tea. there are a lot of things for us " fibroid " gals to consider, when it comes to nutrition. I think that i have read that some people take DIM plus, Vitex, and Calcium D glucarate which can all be found in nutrition stores. Also, things like getting more fiber in our diets is good. i guess there really are a lot of things we can consider to help ourselves. i have really been working on reducing the stress in my life, as, i think that this too, can contribute to fibroids. i am not sure, but, i think that my taking my supplements, as recommended by my naturopath, has perhaps help reduce my stress? I am not sure, but, i think my stress level is less. i seem to not be getting as stressed or as angry as, let's say, about a year ago? I try to exercise 3 to 5 times a week, and, i think this helps reduce stress too. who knows, i think that i am trying everything that i can think of! Yikes! i could really get out of control. however, my fibroids are needing to be removed. they have gotten large enough that, well, surgery is no longer something that can wait. i am going to schedule my surgery, for, probably September. I have 7 fibroids, per ultrasound, and, the largest is about 5.3 cm. anyway, thanks a lot for this support group. i don't know what i would do without you! some of you, out there, were WITH me when i cried and cried last December, or so, when my other doctor said that I needed a hysterectomy! i felt so alone! some of you emailed me, and, one gal gave me her phone number! we talked a lot! well, that is it for now. i think that i need to leave some room for someone else. Most sincerely Patty
