recovering from uae

I haven't written recently about my uae. It was 2 weeks ago today (5/27/04).

I have felt very well during the entire time. In the hospital I kept myself

medicated with my pump. When they took it out in the morning I made sure I

had my percoset. The most I ever felt were slight twinges of cramps. The

various injections and the iv were more painful. When I arrived home I took my

percoset the first 18 hours then stopped. Took nothing for about 1 day then

decided I should use the motrin to help with any inflammation. I stopped that

6/9/04. I have not had any pain, today I have felt a little pressure. I have

carried laundry up and down stairs, cooked, washed dishes, gone to the store,

walked on the Ocean City boardwalk, and gone to the movies 2 times. I am

slightly more tired than usual. My return to work date is 6/21/04 but I really

could have gone back to work after the first few days if it was absolutely

necessary.

My reasons for having the uae at this stage were constant light bleeding,

increasingly frequent urination (again) and the fact that my fibroids were

continuing to grow and multiply inspite of my age (52). I wish I had gone

through

with the procedure 2 years ago. I had an ultrasound at that time that showed

some decrease in size. At the same time my constant need to urinate was

improving. Bleeding was not an issue then. I figure the fibroid that was

pressing

on my bladder must have decreased in size but was later joined by new ones.

I am still bleeding. This is concerning my gyno but I am not letting it

bother me too much. I know some other women here have taken longer than this to

stop bleeding. I do seem to urinate less often, so I feel this is a good sign.

To those of you trying to make up your minds I would recommend doing it

before your quality of life is severely impacted. How much of your life are you

willing to give up to these monsters when there is help?

Best wishes to all, esp. those about to go through their procedures.

Hey , sounds like you had a busy day. I am figuring you live in

Atlantic City, NJ now am I right or wrong? I am planning on having my UAE

next Thursday. I received a letter today from my insurance and they said

that they needed more information on my conditions. What dont make sense is

they had approved a hyst, MRI, and me seeing two different IR's. I would

think they would rather for me to do a UAE over a hyst. Does not make sense.

I am glad you are doing better now. I hope your conditions keep improving on

you. Keep in touch.

Good guess, but no I don't live in Atlantic City. I live about 1 hour west

of there in Millville, NJ. Could have confused you more by telling you that I

spent today at the " King of Prussia Mall " in Pennsylvania. That's about 1

hour north west of here. It is huge.

Keep fighting with your insurance. Do you need a referral from your primary

care physician or your gyno? My gyno's office made the insurance arrangements

for me. He is pro uae and has had many patients go through it.

Good luck to you. I'll be thinking about you this week.
