Guest guest
Hi All- Would love to get some feedback about flying in a plane after surgery. How soon would it be safe and wise to do so? Anyone have any personal experiences doing so, or have thoughts on this, based on how you felt, one week, two weeks, three after surgery? I will be having a myo on one coast, but live on the other, (so it is a lengthy flight) and will want to get home soon, but don't want to push it in terms of reality and wisdom. I will be making the flight on my own. What say you? a
Guest guest
I flew at six days post myo I did fine but my doc would have preferred I flew at seven days due to complications. This was my second myo in a year. For the first one I rode 8hrs in a car at two weeks and it was hard after 7hrs. For the second myo I FELT GOOD. If the removing of scar tissue hadn't resulted in a cut in my bladder I could have flown after three days. As it was I left the hospital after two nights three days with a catheter still in. Doc 2 wanted it to stay in for 7 days but I asked for five. The deal was if I could pee all of day five I could fly day six. I felt fine flying I listed myself as disabled and brought only my purse with a book, meds and ID. And I carried a pillow. They used a seat belt extender to go around me and the pillow. The pillow protected my stomach from other passengers and the seatbelt. I flew on Vicodin and did fine.
