Guest guest
Hi, you should not be worried about this, it means they are trying to get a bigger and more complete view of what is going on in your abdomen. Vaginal sonogram (I assume this is what you mean when you say pelvis sonogram) only can show so much. In the area it can cover, it can show a lot of detail, but it won't " reach " very far above a normal-sized uterus & ovaries. If they want to look at a more enlarged uterus (from fibroids) and/or get a look at bladder, kidneys, ureters, etc., they need to do an abdominal sonogram. So if they are trying to get an idea if the fibroids are putting pressure on a ureter or other organs, they do an abdominal sonogram. This is a good thing, it will help them figure out what's happening. It doesn't mean anything more or less serious might be going on, it's just a fuller view of the abdominal organs. PS, don't hesitate to ask the doc why s/he is ordering a specific test!! Then you won't need to worry so much, no? This list is great, but it's always important to know why YOUR doctor is suggesting something in particular in YOUR case, which we can only speculate about here. Good luck and let us know what happens.
