Guest guest
Has anyone had shifting symptoms with their fibroids? I have one 11 cm fibroid, posterior fundus. Some nights I'm up 3 times, some nights I sleep through the night. Some days I feel achy, others not. The last 7 weeks I haven't been able to eat, have been constipated, had pretty intense pain one day and bloating and discomfort most days. Two days ago I felt better. I can eat again, everything is working the way it should. The doctor couldn't find anything to explain the symptoms other than the fibroid so my question now is, what happened?! Can things just shift around periodically? Does this mean the fibroid might be pedunculated? I'm a bit baffled by all this right now and I'm being pressured to make a decision about treatment. When I couldn't eat I was inclined to go ahead and schedule the myo, but now that I'm feeling better I'm thinking about watching a little longer. Has anyone experienced waxing and waning symptoms? Any thoughts on treatment? I'm 42 and probably at least 10 years from menopause if my Mom is any indication. Thanks- Cyndi
Guest guest
I've been wondering the same thing...because sometimes I have trouble urinating at all, like something's blocking the flow out, but most of the time I have to go frequently. When I can't go, I definitely need to, but it can't get out. I was wondering if the fibroids move around...or are they maybe floating in liquid.. I hope someone knows the answers to your question, sorry I don't, but I would like to know too. Guest guest
Hey Cyndi, I had fibroids for about a year and a half before I had any painful symptoms. Last January I began having pain episodes (like you describe). It was sporadic....and I was determined to stay in the wait and see mode....things just continually got worse (I think I did not realize how bad it had gotten....as it kind of just progressively little by little got worse)....until I ended up in the ER in August with excruciating pain. Of course I had just moved to a new town and had to find a new Doctor.....long story short.....I ended up taking Lupron for the next 3 months and having surgery in December. My fibroids had grown quite large and the pain was possibly being caused due to the fact that the tumor had adhesed (sp) to my transverse and decending colon...along with my small bowel, not to mention the largest tumore was pendulated (and probably twisting)...and there was degeneration going on. I am telling you all of this because...I think I am a good case of someone who just waited too darn long...all to avoid surgery. That being said....it all could have gone the otherway and the fibroids might not have grown.....I think the best thing to do is to keep track of all of your symptoms...and how you are feeling day to day...write it down in a journal...and periodically go back and read it...you may be surprised with how your symptoms and quality of life have degraded but you have not realized it because it has been gradually getting worse and you just deal with it. If you do not want or are done having kids...you might want to look into UAE....it is much less invasive and recovery is much quicker than a myo. There is another yahoo group dedicated to this procedure. You might want to check it out. I wish you the best! > Has anyone had shifting symptoms with their fibroids? Guest guest
That happened to me, too, with my fibroid. Mine was on the outside of my uterus, on the back, and on a stalk. I first learned I had it when I was about 11 weeks pregnant & it either twisted or started degenerating. I had a hard grapefruit sized bulge just to the right of my belly button - it was the fibroid! It was obvious to anyone who looked at me that there was a huge bulge there and it was so weird because it was hard as a rock. I know fibroids on stalks can definitely twist & move around but I'm not sure about other ones. I know that their size can vary depending on what time you are in your cycle. In any event, I had my fibroid removed 2/19 via ab. myo. and I'm feeling great! ~Cindy > Has anyone had shifting symptoms with their fibroids? I have one 11 cm fibroid, posterior fundus. I've been through two courses of antibiotics - the last course ending last week - and I'm still having flank/side pain and I can feel my bladder being pushed to the side. It's got me worried. I've got an u/s scheduled for next week to see if the fibroid(s) are pushing against the bladder. (I have a feeling it is.) Guess it's time for me to get a myo. Can anyone here suggest a really excellent gyn-surgeon in the Toronto area? I have the name of 's surgeon but I'd like to see a few before deciding about who will perform the myo. Guest guest
I'm also having the same problems urinating. I would also like to know if it has anything to do with my fibroids. Guest guest
Yes it is related. I had the same problems before my surgery. It got better after surgery. Guest guest
What type of surgery did you have? I have an MRI scheduled next week to see if I can have the UAE. Guest guest
I am really in need of support as it looks like I will be facing a hysterectomy and there doesn't seem to be any information in this group about hysterectomies. Almost all the posts are about UFE or myos. I need some information about hysterectomies as a myo is not sufficient for what my condition is. And yes, I have gone to doctors skilled in doing myos. So, could any of you help or direct me where I can get support? There are too many hyst groups to choose from. Thank You, a
