Guest guest
Hi, Your 3cm fibroid is a little over a inch. Mine was 2.5 cm on the scan but in reality, it was as big as a man's fist. Ultrasounds may be not entirely right in the size, could be bigger or smaller. A saline ultrasound gives a better picture (still missed my actual size) and a MRI gives a very good picture but it's expensive. With fibroids, it's location, location, location. If your fibroids is in the wrong location, it can cause a lot of problems. A fibroid a lot smaller than yours and cause severe bleeding in the right location. Any fibroid that distorts the shape of the uterus is going to cause trouble. It sounds like you may have this problem. You can have a grapefruit size fibroid and no symptoms. You don't say where they are or if you're suffering heavy bleeding. They can be pressing against your bladder, intestines or tube from your kidney, anywhere. They can cause pelvic pain in many ways. If they are distorting your uterus, filling the inside of your uterus or blocking your fallopian tubes, you may never get preggie unless they are removed. Your fibroids aren't likely too small for a myo (you don't give the other sizes). A myo could improve your chances of getting preggie. You may actually have little choice. If you managed to get preggie, your fibroids will grow with the baby. Maybe they'll be no problems or maybe not. There are women who've lost their babies because of fibroids. Others deliver heathly babies with them. Others can't conceive because of fibroids and yes, others here have had a myo and gotten preggie. You need to give a better idea about location. Are you bleeding heavy or prolonged (helps with location)? If you are bleeding have you been checked for anemia? You're in the right place for answers, need more info from you. But keep calm, knowledge is power and you'll get knowledge here. Ku eventsbydanielle eventsbydanielle@...> wrote: I was diagnosed with fibroids in October of 2003. I had been suffering from pelvic pain for a while, but no one ever knew the cause. My ultrasound report showed 4 fibroids with the largest being 3cm. My uterus is measuring 11cm and the endometrial stripe is distorted. I really don't know what all of this means, but from what I have read my fibroids seem to be small. I also hear grapefruit size, etc. I don't know what you can compare 3cm to. I don't know why I have so much pain from them. I have been trying to conceive for 1 and 1/2 years with no success. I am having a myomectomy next month to relieve the pain, and to restore fertility. What does my ultrasound report mean? Will this myomectomy improve my pregnancy chances? Are my fibroids too small for a myomectomy. I am scared!!! Thanks le
Guest guest
Thank you so much for your response. It really helps alot! I have one fibroid that is 3cm in the uterine cavity. It is hanging on a stalk. She described it as being kinda intramural and submucous in a sense. Because she said part of it was in the wall, part in the uterine cavity. My bleeding is really heavy, but it doesn't usually last more than 3 days and then about 2 more days of spotting. But the pain two weeks before and during my period is pretty intense at times. It comes and goes. The other three fibroids are subserosal and range from 1cm to 2cm. My gyno suspects that the 3cm fibroid is preventing the embryo from implanting successfully. She said abdominal was the best method because of that fibroids location. I am just a little nervous since I hear people speak of these large fibroids and mine are relatively small but I am still having the same surgery. My ultrasound was in October. Could they have grown since then? My preop appt is May 6th. I don't know if I will be getting another ultrasound before surgery. Should I call her now and ask for one. I just want to be sure I am making the right decision since I really want kids and have never had any. Wow, I didn't know that once they got inside the fibroid could actually be bigger than what the ultrasound reports. I can't find my ultrasound report. But I remember that it specifically states that the endometrial stripe is being distorted by the fibroid. > Hi, > > Your 3cm fibroid is a little over a inch.
