Guest guest
Hi Sue, I am 5 weeks & 2 days post ab myo and at my post op visit which was 3 weeks post my Dr. said I could do whatever I want (except get pregnant)...she said I can lift, exercise, etc. I have been doing that and feel absolutely fine. I'd use your own body as a guide - if something feels too strenuous or uncomfortable, then don't do it. I'd go for going to the gym, jogging, etc. but take it easy & use lighter weights or run at a slower pace for a while until you build your strength back up. Good luck! ~Cindy > I'm now just over 7 weeks post-myo & I went yesterday to see my gynae for post-op check. I asked him what I can/can't now do in terms of exercise & lifting & he said I can do what I want now, even go for a jog!! I can't help feeling he was being a bit blase- surely it would be unwise to do any heavy lifting or rigorous exercise just yet?

Guest guest
Sue, I agree with your doctor, and I believe it's also depends on your body's rate of healing. I am now 8 weeks post myo. I've been jogging and doing sit ups since the last two weeks. I've done low impact exercise 4 weeks after myo. Guest guest
Yes, this was my experience too. My doctor said at my 2-week check-up that I could do whatever I wanted as long as it didn't hurt or make me too tired. I started very slow/short jog/walks at 5 weeks; gentle yoga at home at 6 weeks; first post-surgery yoga class (more vigorous) at 7 weeks. I was impatient with my level of fatigue but was careful to increase the intensity and frequency of my exercise gradually. Now, at almost 4 months, am back at my pre-surgery pace. In fact, I think I have more energy and stamina now -- which feels great. I think different docs have different preferences, and it also probably depends on how much cutting and repairing had to be done. My abdominal myomectomy was uncomplicated despite the size -- 20 week uterus, one 27 cm (9+ in) fibroid. > I agree with your doctor, and I believe it's also depends on your body's > rate of healing.
