No we are not going to say that. It is a personal

decision and if that is what YOU decide is best for

YOUR situation then that is the right decision for

YOU!

I think the " stress " of finding out you have fibroids

and then the decision making is just as hard on your

body as the actual fibroids. Sifting through all the

information and trying to decide seems to consume us.

But when we finally " chose " what is best for us and

make a concrete decision it seems like such a weight

has been lifted and we can go on from there to getting

ourselves healthy again.

Good Luck to you and I hope your recovery is quick and

easy!

hysterectomy. You might want to check it out.

Good luck to you and be sure to keep us up to date!

If the Depo Lupron could shrink your fibroids down, could they then possibly try

to do a myomyectomy first?

Will get 3 before hyst, hoping reducing the size of fibroids will

endometriosis too, so with Lupron, it will help get rid of it too.

I hope so, the doctor will examine me again before operation and see

if myo is possible.

The question now is not want I want but what I need ... and since I'm

not a doctor, I figure I've got to have a bit of trust in him ...

Actually, not every doctor will tell you ALL your options. Some

doctors will tell you the option that they are most comfortable

performing, not the one that might be best for you. I wish we could

have the type of trust in our doctors that you speak of, but after

being on this list for 5 years and reading the things some doctors

have told their patients, my suggestion would be for you to look into

and learn about the various options for treating fibroids and then

discuss them with your doctor. For instance, uterine artery

embolization, a good option for women who do not plan on having any

more children, is done by an interventional radiologist, not a

gynecologist, and as a result some GYNs will not refer their patients

to someone else and lose out on the money they could make by

performing a surgery.

There can very well be several treatments that will help you...please

check out NUFF's website at www.nuff.org and also our Executive

Director's personal site, www.uterinefibroids.com to learn more.

What you need, and what any one (or 2 or 3 in the case of GYNs) particular

doctor *says* you need may be two different things...and totally different from

what you want. On this list, many of us have had docs immediately say " Hysto "

even for some very young ladies. If you do not want a hysterectomy, but think

you may need one, I would suggest a second or third opinion. You might want to

consider an RE as they are more experienced in saving the uterus by doing a

myomyectomy. Yes, there are times when a hysterectomy may indeed be necessary,

or the best choice. But, for many women, it is not the best or only choice, but

the only choice that is *offered* by their current doctor.

just my opinion...ultimately, the decision is yours.

Well, I hope he doesn't let you down. In the meantime keep reading

those fibroid books and if you get cold feet, you know what to do,

right? I hope everything works out okay.
