,

Have you heard of Uterine artery embolization? I was having much the same

symptoms as you have. The long periods, with lots of bleeding, flooding, big

clots, pains, cramps. I was 43 at that time so I was finished having children.

But the UAE was a great success for me. They put a tiny catheter into your

groin and essentially insert particles to block the blood flow to the fibroids.

There is no cutting and you are only in the hospital one night. The

recovery is not bad.

I am sorry you are having all these problems and hopefully you can decide

what to do. Take care.

It sounds possible that your doctor removed just one fibroid and

perhaps didn't look around for others...although it is possible that

you are just one of those women who grow lots of fibroids. Not

comforting, I know.

One suggestion would be to see another gynecologist or reporductive

endocrinologist and ask for an MRI which gives a sharper, clearer

picture of just how many fibroids you have.

Another suggestion would be to consider a UAE. UAE will kill all

fibroids, however small, that exist at the time of the procedure.

While some women regrown fibroids following a UAE, it's my impression

that there's a longer time between procedure and new fibroid growth

than is true for myomectomy.

Either way, I personally would get another opinion, from a doctor not

associated with your current GYN.

Okay this hmo thing continuse. They only appoved me for two vist. And they

faxed over a not saying no matter what they would not appove a Mayo. So why

even bother. There fourseing me again into there 3 distions. Depo I will not do.

Bleed out since i already had a blood transfutions, or a hystercetym. Thank

you i 29 year old not had any childern and would like to keep my orograns. So i

thinking since this is how they want to handle it i guess it looks like were

in option 2. I am hopping that dr Stward is able to convince them to have my

mayo is the way to go.

Hi,

First let your doc try to fight the HMO for you. Docs have connections.

Sometimes if you fight the HMO for a treatment, they'll do it. A myo is hardly

experimental. Why don't they cover it? Tell them they'll be talking to your

attorney. Call their HR department. It's your body, you deserve real choices.

Fight them. My friend worked for them and she told me to fight. They hope you

won't but you stand to win if you do. It sounds like you want the option to have

a child, I fully understand this, let your doc try and then fight if you have

too.
