Guest guest
Hello from Lafayette, LA - This is my first post her, however, I have been researching options to total hysterectomy procedure advised by obgyn since I was 38-years old. Now, I am 50 and have managed my two visible fibroids (one the size of an orange and the other a golf ball) for a very long time. My fibroids were heavy bleeders so I took the homeopathic route and decided to watch and wait. No easy task! These fibroids never caused pain, previously, and, I treated my peri-memopausal symptoms with natural herbal remedies which worked fairly well, although, I had to change modalities at times... acupuncture, shiatzu, relaxation therapy, epsom salt sitz baths, vegetarian diet and excercise. No caffiene, no chocolate, no alcohol. This worked well and the fibroids started the degeneration process and the sonogram indicated the fibroids were slowly starting to shrink. Over the past year the tumors have caused a paunch on my abdomen and for the first time they have started to cause pain and fever... I have not had a menstrual cycle for a year and I thought that I would be able to go through this without hormones (which caused mood swings and weight gain) or surgery (since fibroid location seems to deem total hysterectomy to the different second opinion physicians I have seen) I do not want to use Provera (and accelerate menopausal symptoms)--- however, if I could find a good surgeon who could perform the myomectomy, unbellieveably, for the first time in my life the gain may outweigh the pain! Does any one know of a obgyn surgeon who would consider the myo only? I live in Lafayette, LA. Thank you!
