Guest guest
Hi Can anyone tell me approximately how long it takes for one's uterus to go back to normal size after a myo. I am so tired of looking pregnant and bloated and have almost psyched myself up for a myo. However I am scared even after the myo that I will be stuck with this massive uterus which may take months and months to go down. Please could anyone who has had more than one fibroid removed from a tilted uterus answer? Thanks Fran
Guest guest
Hi Fran, Before my myo my (lots of my's!!)uterus was the size of a 16 wk preg. On my two week follow up it was the size of an orange and according to my doc would be back to it's pear size within another week or so. It seems to shrink quickly once the fibroids are gone!!! Guest guest
-GOOD TO HEAR!! I am having my period now. ALl I can wear is elastic bands because my stomach swells up so much during my period. Had a horrible accident at work - ruined my skirt - horribly embarassed. One month until my myo. I am scared, but days like these I just want the fibroids gone. -- In uterinefibroids , skincarebypearl@a... wrote: > Hi Fran, > Before my myo my (lots of my's!!)uterus was the size of a 16 wk preg. Guest guest
Fran, I had a myo that removed an enormous, 25 cm fibroid from the top of the uterus -- but my uterus itself was not terribly distorted. At my 2-week check-up the doc said the uterus had returned to normal size. It might depend somewhat on how distorted your uterus is by the fibroid. Doc also said that it takes up to 6 months for everything to return completely to normal, eg abdominal swelling, incisions (external and internal repair(s)) etc. Best of luck to you! Guest guest
I don't know if anyone has answered this yet. It seems like it takes 3-6 months for all the uterine swelling to go away after myomectomy. Removal of larger and more numerous fibroids causes more swelling than smaller and fewer fibroids. As is true with most medical things, healing varies from woman to woman. Bill , MD How long for uterus to shrink back to normal?
