Guest guest
I had my first severe sympton of the uterine fibroid on Wednesday night. I was thinking I was doing better and had no spotting between periods. I did not start my period till late Wednesday afternoon about 4. But between 7:30 and 8:30 I soaked 3 sets of clothes and then passed out in front of the bathroom. My daughter Ruthie called 911 for me. This was so scary for me and not to mention my children. The gynecologist on call gave me a depro shot and then prescribed prometrium for me. Has anyone else been on this medication? Or know of any side affects or anything? I am still looking for a quality surgeon in this area of the midwest. I live about 60 miles west of Chicago in the Dekalb area. If anyone knows of any doctor in this area who has performed myomectomies, I would really like to find one. I definately do not want a hysterectomy at all. Thank you all for listening (reading). Guest guest
Hi cathy! I hope you are doing better now...that is terrible how much blood you lost in one hour! I have never had anything like that happen, Thank God!I am 19 yrs. old and was just told I had mine about a month ago..... How long have you had your fibroid? How big is it. and where is it located? I have one 7 cm fibroid on the top of my uterus, and from what i can tell, the only symptoms I have, is heavy clotty, painful periods.I also have some pressure in the pelvic area. I hope to hear back from you, and I wish you the best! a > I had my first severe sympton of the uterine fibroid on Wednesday > night
Guest guest
Hi Cathy, I am so sorry to here that you ended up in the ER. I hope you feel better. Do you know how long you have had the fibroid and how big it is? I was just diagnosed with one in the back of my uterus 2 nights ago. It is about 2 inches big and I have been in so much pain esp. in lower back area. I have just begun to spot but it is brown blood. Hope to hear from you. Take good care. a
Guest guest
Sorry to hear you landed in the ER but I do sympathize with you as that is what happened to me a few weeks back, if you remember. Thank goodness I didn't pass out but sure felt like it and it took a lot out of me for several days. All I seemed to do was sleep! As I have stated, unlike a lot of you, I choose to have a hysterectomy. I believe my quality of life will improve drastically and this is a personal choice. I applaude those of you who don't wish one and hope that your own quality of life is good.
Guest guest
Hi a, I was just diagnosed a couple of weeks ago on January 13. The size of the fibroid is about the size of a golfball. I have been having heavy periods for about 9 months and I just took it as just getting older. I will be 41 on April 18th. I don't ever have much pain at all just alot of bleeding. Even on Wednesday I did not have much pain. I hope that all works out for you too. I am wanting to get a myo done some time in the near future. I will have to wait till the new insurance I have comes through. My current insurance ends today! I am thankful that this episode I had happened when I was still insured! Take care a and I will keep you informed too! Cathy
Guest guest
Cathy, So sorry to hear that happened to you. How scary for you and your daughter. You said you wanted a myo. What kind of fibrids do you have and have you considered a UAE? I'm in Chicago and had one done at a hospital here in Chicago. With an area as big as Chicago, I hope you will find someone. Are you doing any better? hope so. Keep us posted.

Guest guest
Cathy, I had my UAE at Resurrection Hosp in Chicago, by Dr. Simon. I did have good results. In fact, I'm 14 months post UAE and just had an ultrasound and I only have one teeny fibroid they could see on the u/s.
