2 surgeons for myo, & intestinal puncture?

Hi,

In my search for a surgeon, I found an MD who did myo's on two

aquaintences. Both surgeries were done with another surgeon present. One

women's surgery went fine. During the other women's surgery, the her

intestine was punctured [unclear how, exactly], requiring repair by an GI

surgeon.

So here are my questions, to those of you who have been around:

1) Is it common for a myo to be done by two surgeons? Or is this a sign of

an unskilled MD needing the help of another?

2) Would an intestinal puncture be a rare and uncontrollable side-effect of

a myo, or is it a sign that the surgeon screwed up?

Thanks so much for your assistance. Weblinks or wisdom greatly appreciated!

Hi,

My RE myo surgeon had a assistant surgeon that he was training for my surgery.

My RE surgeon made it a point to stay away from my intestines to avoid future

problems. The puncture was no doubt a accident in the case you know about.

Have you looked at REs for your surgery?

Seems like if there was scaring or adheisons (maybe from infection or just tough

connection tissue) a puncture into the intestion can happen with just a blink of

the eye. Those instrement are razor sharp...or they should be :-, Surgery has

risks. I've taken care of lots of women who have had their bladder slit open

" accidently " during their hysterectomy surgery. By several differnt surgeons.

Kinda like carving the turkey on thanksgiving. Whoops
