Guest guest
I became allergic to DMPS, even though I felt so good on it. My doc doesn't want to give me DMSA as he said it crosses the blood brain barrier and could move merc into the brain if used too early in the chelation process and that it is better to use it at the end of merc chelation. I have also read in other doc's chelation protocals that using it in the early phases can cause more brain problems down the road. However, Andy Cutler recommends using it, even right at the beginning of chelation treatment. So I am a bit confused? What has been people's experience with using DMSA? Any problems later on Is there any scientific literature out to prove or disprove that it crosses the BBB?
Guest guest
This from Andy in the archives ................ Message number 1088 DMSA does NOT cross the blood brain barrier and does NOT clear mercury out of the brain at a clinically meaningful rate and this is based on all the literature studies that exist. There is one rat study that is widely misinterpreted by people who don't bother to read it (e. g. alternative medicine practitioners who claim DMSA speeds up the natural rate of brain clearance by 20% under the circumstances used in that study - which is to say that instead of 25 or more years for half the mercury to come out it would only take 20 or so if you used DMSA the way it was done in that study. Unlike mercury, lead does slowly come out of the brain on its own, so chelating the lead out of your body reduces brain levels too. Andy Cutler [ ] DMSA - does it cross the BBB? Guest guest
I was interested to know what your symptoms were when you became allergic to DMPS. Fran
Guest guest
> Is there any scientific literature out to prove or disprove that it > crosses the BBB? The existing scientific literature proves it does not do so to a clinically significant extent. Many functionally illiterate physicians read the clearest article and don't understand it, however, so there is confusion in the field. Andy . . .. . . . . . . . .
